Abstract

Research about land productivity and efficiency of integrated farming systems on dryland agroecosystems had been conducted in farmers owned land in Fatukanutu village with land characteristics at a slope of <15% and altitude <500 m above the sea level. This research is secondyear research, which was carried out from January to November 2018. The purposes of this study are to implement an integrated farming system in dryland and lowland agroecosystems, to assess land productivity in an integrated agricultural system model (SPT) and the efficiency of land use on cropping patterns in the SPT model in lowland and dryland agroecosystems. The results showed that the model applied in the field is a banana-based integrated farming system, which is following the local and potential components such as livestock, food crops (maize), vegetables and fodder ( lamtoro) with intercropping harvesting system (Tumpangsari and TumpangGilir). Compared to monoculture crops, land productivity in integrated farming systems in dryland banana zone in agroecosystems ismore productive. Also, cropping patterns in SPT model are beneficial because the LER value is > 1, there is efficiency in land use on banana-based SPT, with the LER value of banana-corn 1.15, banana-vegetable 1.65 and banana-maize-vegetable 2.80

Abstract

Integration of simple biotechnology practice into conventional feed manufacturing methods is expected to improve the quality of artificial feed. Fermentation technology can be used as an alternative way toincrease digestibility or bioavailability of artificial feed. The fermentation agent used is the starter of Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB), Saccharomyces cerevisiae (Sc) and Rhizopus oligosporus (Ro). This experiment used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments (F1; withoutfermentation agents, F2; BAL, F3; Sc and F4; Ro) and three replications so that the total experimental units were 12 experimental units. The variables measured included the physical and chemical quality of feed, the level of feed consumption and the growth parameters of tilapia. Fermented feed produced significant fish growth (P <0.05) even with the same feed consumption level compared with the control. Breakdown of the nutrient content as a result of the fermentation process causes a far more efficient utilization.

Abstract

The latest application of integrated farming system, directed to the special specification, such as technically and product specification within increase the production efficiency oriented. For this purpose, a research was conducted in Fatukanutu, Sub-distric Amabi Oefeto, Kupang regency, aboutapplication of integrated farming system model (IFS) with banana and calf based. One of the goals is to know the carrying capacity of agriculture commodity waste that cultivated on model application that potential for feed supply, they were maize waste, cabbage, white mustard and banana’s stem. For that, estimation of total available fresh waste and total dry matter and nutrition value to determine amount of calf on animal unit per year that potential to cultivate on IFS model. The result show that total fresh waste from above plant about 6,231.09 kg per year. The next, total of dry matter about 614,2 kg. This waste can use to support calf feed supply for 97 day or worth to 0.27 animal unit per year. Nevertheless, the totally carrying capacity value of the application model more high certainty, because it is not included with the other sources of roughage that’s mean Penisetum purpurephoides and Leucaena leucocephala.

Abstract

One of the marine aquaculture commodities that is currently booming in East Nusa Tenggara Province and has a market prospect is seaweed. The local government of Sikka district since 2007 has declared seaweed as its main aquaculture commodity. This declaration is based on the availability of coastal land, where 90% of the territorial waters are potential for seaweed cultivation. However, this potency is oftentimes ignored. The purposes of this study are (1) to analyse the suitability area for seaweed cultivation, (2) to collect data and information about the area, water capacity, unit area, and carrying capacity of the waters. This research was conducted in the coastal area in Parumaan village, Sikka, East Nusa Tenggara Province. Analysis of area compatibility is based on the watercarrying capacities to support seaweed cultivation. The result shows that the coastal area in Parumaan was compatible for the cultivation, with a value of 270 which means that the development of seaweed is possible while still taking into account the carrying capacity of the ecosystem.
