Abstract

Avocado (Persea americana) contains a lot of vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin C and vitamin E which is good to be used in skin care. One of the cosmetics for skincare is lotion, which is a liquid emulsion consisting of oil phase and water phase stabilized by emulgator. Lotion is used to protect and maintain skin moisture level. The purpose of this research was to formulate and evaluate the lotion in order to assure the physical characteristic and stability were accepted according to the Handbook of Pharmaceutical Excipients and Indonesia Pharmacopeia requirements.Formulation were made by using these following ingredients: glyceryl monostearate, cera alba, tween 80, glycerin, liquid paraffin, benzyl alcohol, perfume, aquadest. The study used 2 variation of concentration, which is  0.5% and 1% avocado extract as active substance, besides there is variations in glyceryl monostearate (5.5% and 5.7%), cera alba (2.7% and 2.9%), tween 80 (3.5% and 3.7%), glycerin (10% and 12%), liquid paraffin (10% and 12%), and benzyl alcohol (0.15% and 0.17%) in formulations I and II. Lotion was then tested for its physical properties, which include organoleptic test, homogeneity test, pH test, and spreadability test, lastly hedonic and irritation test were also being examined.Based on the results of physical properties test, both lotion formulations showed a viscous texture, beige and dark beige color with a distinctive odor, homogeneous, not irritating, have a pH value in the range of 4.55-5.31 with 4.9-5.15 cm spread. In the hedonic test on 10 panelists, lotion I formulation gave the most satisfaction score and comforty from respondents. Respondent's satisfaction on the appearance comprise the texture, color, and odor. Besides, viscosity and spreadability were also marked as how comfort the lotion is when it was applied to the respondent’s skin.Keywords :  Avocado, Extract, Lotion, Cosmetic, Moisturizer

Abstract

Iron is a chemical element that is found in almost every place on earth, including in well water or groundwater. Iron can be suspended in water with organic substances or inorganic solids in the form of ferrous cations (Fe2+) and ferries (Fe3+). The presence of iron that exceeds the threshold can cause detrimental effects such as corrosion of the piping, the color of the water turns brown, smells bad, and can cause health problems. The iron content in groundwater can be reduced so that it can be used as water that is fit for consumption or use in everyday life. This study aims to determine several types of techniques used to reduce iron in groundwater or well water through literature studies. Techniques covered include filtration, aeration, adsorption, coagulation, electrocoagulation, and cascade aerators. The results showed that the greatest reduction in efficiency was found in the combination type of adsorption technique and filtration technique by more than 99.1%, then followed by the electrocoagulation technique of  99.74%. From all the techniques studied in this study, it can be concluded that all techniques can reduce iron levels in which the combination of adsorption and filtration techniques is the most effective.Keywords: Technique, reduction, iron content, groundwater

Abstract

Meloxicam is included in the class II Biopharmaceutical Classification System (BCS). This drug has low solubility and high permeability. The solubility is one of the factors that affect in the dissolution rate of drug. One of the effort to increase dissolution of meloxicam is by forming a solid dispersion system made using melting method. The addition of PEG 6000 and poloxamer 188 carriers determine in the solid dispersion system aims to increase the dissolution rate of meloxicam. The purpose of this study is to characterize the meloxicam solid dispersion system with PEG 6000 and poloxamer 188 matrices at a ratio of 99:1 and 98:2 made by the melting method when compared with the physical mixture and its pure compound using Powder X-Ray Diffaction, DSC and FTIR. The results of meloxicam solid dispersion with a ratio 99:1 and 98:2 showed the disappearance of the typical peak of meloxicam at an angel of 2θ 6.5° and 11.2°. The thermogram data using DSC shows a decrease in melting point of solid dispersion system with a ratio of 99:1 and 98:2 namely 64.33°C and 64.21°C. The result of the characterization of meloxicam solid dispersion with FTIR showed that the identified spectrum were in the spectrum range of meloxicam, PEG 6000, poloxamer 188 indicating there was no incteraction in the meloxicam solid dispersion system.Keywords: Meloxicam, PEG 6000, Poloxamer 188, Solid Dispersion, Melting Method, Characterization

Abstract

Pharmaceutical service is a form of health service in pharmacy as an inseparable unit that plays a significant role in improving the quality of life of patients and also increasing patient satisfaction. Based on the preliminary study, the services whose provided by the Ganesha Farma Pharmacy staff are less satisfying to consumers, related to the friendliness of the pharmacy staff and the lack of provision of drug information by pharmacy staff. Therefore, in this study, it is expected to know the level of customer satisfaction at the Ganesha Farma Pharmacy, Lamongan Regency. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of customer satisfaction with pharmaceutical service at Ganesha Farma Pharmacy in Lamongan Regency.  The type of research was descriptive with a quantitative approach.  The sampling method was non-probability sampling with the purposive sampling technique. The samples obtained were 100 respondents.  The method of calculating the level of customer satisfaction was the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) method.  The results showed that the level of satisfaction at the reliability dimension of 70.8% (satisfied), responsivenesss 68.8% (satisfied), assurance 69% (satisfied), empathy 69.8 (satisfied), tangible 69.4% (satisfied). The conclusion of this study is the level of customer satisfaction towards pharmaceutical services at Ganesha Farma Pharmacy, Lamongan Regency is 69.56% with the satisfied category.Keywords: Level of customer satisfaction, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical services

Abstract

High blood pressure is one of the main risk factors for cardiovascular disease which causes 20- 50% of all deaths. The people of Onepute, West Petasia District, North Morowali Regency have a very high percentage of high blood pressure with a percentage of 65%. One of the risk factors for high blood pressure is consuming foods high in fat and salt, medicinal plants are plants or parts of plants commonly used by Indonesian people as an alternative to treat various diseases. The purpose of this study was to determine the types and parts of plants used, processing, how to use, the rules of use or the dosage of treatment, as well as the compatibility between empirical knowledge of the Onepute community, West Petasia District, North Morowali Regency with ethnopharmochological studies that had been previously researched. The research method used was purposive sampling method, namely the technique of taking members of the sample from the population with certain considerations. The research was conducted by means of semi-structured interviews with open questions to 6 sandro people of the Onepute community, West Petasia District, North Morowali Regency and the form of data presentation in a qualitative way. The results showed that there were 6 types of plants, and what is widely used by the community is leaves with a percentage of 66.67%. Plant parts used include leaves, fruit and rhizomes. The processing method is boiled, squeezed, brewed and direct consumption. Compounds that play a role in lowering high blood pressure are monotetrahydrofuran acetogenin compounds, such as anomuricin A and B, gigantetrosin A, annonasin-10-one, muricatosin A and B, annonacin, and goniothalamicin, postasium, potassium, gingerol, shogaol, sodium, flavonoids, tannins, triterpenoids, saponins, polyphenols.Keywords: Ethnopharmacology, High Blood Pressure Disease, Onepute Society.

Abstract

Currently, the rise of the corona disease (Covid-19) has become a worldwide pandemic which has been declared by Who to be the center of attention around the world. One of the prevention efforts is to wear a mask and wash hands. Hand washing is done by using liquid soap and rinsing with soapy water. The degree of acidity (pH) of soap serves to inhibit the growth rate and kill bacteria. This research is to see the antibacterial activity of unbranded and branded liquid soap products and have distribution permits that are traded freely in the marketplace. Using the disc diffusion technique method, the zone of inhibition is determined. In this study, a positive control was used, namely liquid soap that already had a distribution permit and a negative control in the form of aquadest. The test results obtained that the diameter of the inhibition zone for liquid soap, namely S. aureus in liquid soap, was 27.7 mm and in positive control was 24.9 mm. Meanwhile, in E.coli, the average diameter of the inhibition area in liquid soap was 29.3 mm and in positive control was 32.8 mm. This is influenced by the concentration of antiseptic, soap composition, antibacterial, and pH of the soap, as well as bacterial cell wall components and dilution. And from the results of statistical analysis using the Tukey test method, it was found that there was a significant difference in liquid soap (p-value 0.000) which was significant in inhibiting the rate of bacterial growth.Keywords: bacterial growth, escherichia coli, hand washing, inhibition test, liquid soap, staphylococcus aureus

Abstract

Bungur  (Lagerstroemia loudonii T. B) is a type of plant widely grown in Indonesia and can be found in teak forests, mixed forests, and is found as ornamental plants or protective trees on the roadside. In the fruit section, Lagerstroemia loudonii is used as antituberculous and antimalarial. On the bark, the part is used as antidiarrheal. Based on some parts of the Lagerstroemia loudonii  plants' activity data, this plant has the potential to be developed into traditional medicine. Standardized traditional medicine material is necessary to identify efficacious compounds and characterization in some parts of Lagerstroemia loudonii. The purpose of this research is to develop Lagerstroemia loudonii into traditional herbal medicine or standardized herbal medicine. Identification of efficacious compounds and characterization of crude leaf drugs, bark, stems, and fruit of Lagerstroemia loudonii. The phytochemical screening phase of the crude drugs of leaves, bark, stems, and fruit ofLagerstroemia loudonii against includes examining alkaloids, flavonoids,  quinones, tannins, polyphenols, saponins, steroids and triterpenes, monoterpenoids and sesquiterpenoids. The determination of the characteristics of raw material carried out includes nonspecific parameters. Nonspecific parameters are the determination of total ash content, water-soluble ash content, acid insoluble ash content. each experiment was carried out three times and calculated the average yield and deviation.  Identification results of the class of efficacious compounds in some parts of the Lagerstroemia loudonii  plant are on the leaves and fruits containing alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, quinones, tannins, polyphenols, monoterpenoids, and sesquiterpenoids as well as steroids and triterpenoids. At the bark and stem, the bark contains alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, quinones, tannins, polyphenols, monoterpenoids, and sesquiterpenoids. Characterization results of Lagerstroemia loudonii  leaf extract total ash content 4.45 ± 0.30% w/w, water-soluble ash content 4.08 ± 0.27% w/w, acid insoluble ash content 0.59 ± 0.06% w/w, the extract specific gravity was 0.59 ± 0.063. Lagerstroemia loudonii  stem bark extract, total ash content 1.94 ± 0.12% w/w, water-soluble ash content 1.47 ± 0.03% w/w, acid insoluble ash content 0.24 ± 0.02% w/w, the extract specific gravity is 0.82 ± 0.01. Lagerstroemia loudonii  stem extract, total ash content3.18 ± 0.16% w/w, water-soluble ash content 2.36 ± 0.38% w/w, acid insoluble ash content 0.43 ± 0.07% w/w, extract specific grafity 0.81 ± 0.01. Lagerstroemia loudonii  fruit extract, total ash content 11.45 ± 1.16%w/w, water-soluble ash content 10.1 ± 1.49% w/w, acid insoluble ash content 1.46 ± 0.88% w/w,extract specific grafity 0.81 ± 0.01. Based on phytochemical screening data and the characterization of bungur plants potential to be developed into raw materials for traditional medicineKeywords: Lagerstroemia loudonii, secondary metabolite, raw material characterization

Abstract

Stres merupakan suatu keadaan tertekan baik secara fisik maupun secara psikologis. Suatu proses yang menilai suatu peristiwa sebagai sesuatu yg mengancam, ataupun membahayakan dan individu merespon peristiwa itu pada level fisiologis, emosional, kognitif, dan perilaku. Hormon kortisol adalah hormon stres, karena hormon ini akan diproduksi lebih banyak saat tubuh mengalami stres baik fisik maupun emosional. Terapi murottal Al-Qur’an merupakan salah satu terapi non farmakologis yang dapat digunakan untuk mempercepat proses penyembuhan. Lantunan Al-Qur’an secara fisik mengandung unsur suara manusia. Suara dapat menurunkan hormon stres, mengaktifkan hormon endorfin alami, meningkatkan perasaan rileks dan mengalihkan perhatian dari rasa takut, cemas, dan tegang, memperbaiki sistem kimia tubuh. Surat Ar-Rahman merupakan surat Makiyah yang mempunyai karakter ayat pendek  dan berulang sehingga dapat menimbulkan efek relaksasi bagi pendengar. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah Menganalisis efektifitas pemberian terapi Murottal Al Qur’an terhadap kadar hormon kortisol pada mencit yang mengalami stres. Metode penelitian ini adalah true experimental post-test only control group design. 35 mencit dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok, Kelompok K+: tidak diberi perlakuan  murottal QS. Ar-Rahman dan tidak diberi paparan stresor kebisingan; Kelompok Kontrol (-) diberi paparan stresor kebisingan 21 hari dan tidak diberi perlakuan murottal QS. Ar-Rahman; P1 diberi paparan stresor kebisingan 21 hari + murottal QS. Ar-Rahman 1 jam/hari; P2 diberi paparan stresor kebisingan 21 hari + murottal QS. Ar-Rahman 2 jam/hari; P3 diberi paparan stresor kebisingan 21 hari + murottal QS. Ar-Rahman 4 jam/hari. Analisis data menggunakan Median Test didapatkan nilai p value adalah 0,032 (p 0,05) menyatakan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan kadar kortisol pada mencit dengan kontrol negatif, kontrol positif dan yang mendapat perlakuan 1, 2, dan 3. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah bahwa Terapi Murottal Al Quran dapat menurunkan kadar kortisol mencit yang dipapar stres kebisingan.Kata Kunci: Stres, Kebisingan, Murottal Al Quran, QS. Abstract

The 70% punctuality of graduating students is one of the quality targets of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang and is one of the assessment points in the LAM-PTkes accreditation. While the punctuality of graduation from the Pharmacy department FKIK UIN Malang was 20% for the 2013 class, 17% for the 2014 batch, 14% for the 2015 batch and 66% for the 2016 batch. does not meet the FKIK quality standards. This study was conducted to identify the factors that affect the punctuality of graduation for Pharmacy students so that it can help the Pharmacy department to improve the punctuality of graduation. The design of this research is an observational study that is cross-sectional. The results of this study are that there is no significant relationship between motivation and timeliness of graduation for students of the pharmaceutical study program at UIN Malang, there is no significant relationship between interest and timeliness of graduation for students of Pharmacy department UIN Malang, there is no significant relationship between intelligence There is no significant relationship between spiritual intelligence and the punctuality of graduating pharmacy study students at UIN Malang and there is no significant relationship between the scientific field and the punctuality of graduating Pharmacy study program students at UIN Malang. In conclusion, none of the factors studied had a significant relationship with the punctuality of graduating students from the pharmacy department at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang.Keywords: punctuality of graduation, pharmacy department
