Abstract

Character education has become a fundamental objective of Islamic education in fostering students' moral integrity, spiritual awareness, and social responsibility. However, character education in many Islamic boarding schools remains largely conventional and lacks a systematic educational model, particularly for students with psychosocial mental disabilities following rehabilitation. This study aimed to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of the Self Spiritual Akliah (SSA)-Based Character Education Model at Pondok Pesantren Ainul Yakin. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach based on the Borg and Gall model, encompassing needs analysis, planning, preliminary product development, expert validation, product revision, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), operational field testing, final product revision, and dissemination. Data were collected through observations, interviews, documentation, expert validation questionnaires, FGDs, and pretest–posttest assessments. Quantitative data were analyzed using Pearson Product-Moment validity testing, Cronbach's Alpha reliability testing, and Normalized Gain (N-Gain) analysis. The findings indicate that the SSA model was successfully developed into a valid, practical, and effective character education model. The research instrument demonstrated excellent reliability (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.938). Following a three-month implementation period, the mean character development score increased from 58.43 to 83.10, with an average N-Gain score of 0.60 (60.45%), indicating moderate improvement. The SSA model integrates the dimensions of Self, Spiritual, and Akliah into a holistic character education framework through habituation, mentoring, instructional activities, and continuous evaluation. The model provides an evidence-based approach that may serve as an alternative framework for strengthening character education in Islamic boarding schools and other inclusive Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

Early childhood education is the initial stage for developing the potential of children, who have unique characters. It requires treatment and educational strategies that suit their needs. Principals as leaders of early childhood education institutions need to ensure that teachers can carry out their duties professionally and are able to develop children's potential in all aspects of their development. The reality in the field shows that there are still various challenges in organizing kindergarten education, especially those related to the quality of the learning process. One important aspect that affects the quality of learning in kindergarten is the competence and professionalism of teachers. Faced with this fact, school principals can implement various strategies to develop teachers' pedagogical professionalism. Strategies to improve teachers' pedagogical competence must be integrated and sustainable. The purpose of this study is to analyze and describe the principal's strategy in developing kindergarten teachers' pedagogical professionalism. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study method. The research subjects were principals and teachers of TKIT Al-Qur'an At-Tartil in Sukabumi City. The results illustrate that principals make strategic efforts in developing teachers' pedagogical professionalism, starting from understanding the characteristics of students, mastering learning theories and principles, curriculum development, learning design, to implementing educational and dialogical learning. Principals carry out several strategies in developing teachers' pedagogical professionalism, including understanding the characteristics of learners, including physical, cognitive, social-emotional, moral, and spiritual aspects of early childhood, strengthening teachers' understanding of learning theories and principles in accordance with the characteristics of early childhood, as well as utilizing ICT, facilitating teachers in designing effective and enjoyable learning, starting from formulating goals, choosing strategies, methods, media, and learning resources that are in accordance with the characteristics of children.

Abstract

Facing the increasingly stringent era of globalization, Vocational High Schools have an important role in preparing students who are ready to face the challenges of an increasingly competitive world of work. The purpose of this study is to obtain an overview and analyze the learning management of the Machining Engineering Concentration of Expertise in improving the competence of vocational students. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive research methods. The results of the study showed that (1) the learning planning of KK TPM has been carried out well, the curriculum as a learning guide is in accordance with applicable regulations, there are annual programs, semester programs, lesson schedules and teaching modules that refer to the curriculum. (2) The organization of KK TPM learning has been well implemented, there is a division of teaching duties of teachers according to their competence, teachers guide students in learning, students collaborate in their groups working on learning projects and there is support from the world of work / industry which acts as a guest teacher in learning. (3) Implementation of learning KK TPM learning has been carried out well seen in the opening activities, core activities and closing activities of learning are implemented well in accordance with lesson planning. (4) Supervision of KK TPM learning has been carried out well, there is a learning assessment, learning reflection and follow-up in improving the quality of learning. (5) The obstacles faced in learning KK TPM are the limited factors of the machines owned. (6) The solution in overcoming the obstacles faced is setting an effective machine use schedule, using simulator learning media in the form of applications on android phones or computers, collaborating with the world of work / industry in carrying out teaching factory activities in collaboration with industries involving students, and having guest teachers / practitioners from the world of work / industry in learning. This study can be concluded that the learning management of the concentration of machining engineering expertise has been carried out in accordance with planning, organizing, implementing, and supervising. However, there are obstacles in terms of the lack of practical learning facilities owned according to standards and solutions in overcoming these obstacles are using simulator learning media and also collaborating with the world of work / industry in supporting learning.
