Abstract

Food availability can be defined as a condition where the available food comes from domestic production, food supply, and food income, including imports and food aid, when some important food sources cannot meet their needs. One of the basic human needs is food that must be available and consumed every day to meet needs and sustain life. Food can be more easily accessed if the food is available in quantity and quality that meets the needs of the community. This study aims to determine the condition of food availability and food expectancy patterns in Medan City. The methods used in this study are qualitative methods and description approaches. The result obtained is that food production in the city of Medan has changed from year to year. The availability of most widely available food for consumption is rice amounting to 334.52 grams/capita/day. While the type of food consumed the least is garlic amounting to 1.91 grams/capita/day. The existing community's PPH score value is still below the maximum PPH score, however, it has improved in quality and quantity, which is 92.9. Efforts that can be made to increase food availability are by directing OPD related to community consumption which focuses on B2SA-based household consumption practices.

Abstract

Introduction: Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are the highest cause of death due to non-communicable diseases in Indonesia. This condition is certainly very worrying, because the trend of NCDs is increasing followed by a shift in disease patterns, where previously NCDs were experienced by the elderly group, are now starting to threaten younger age groups. Public awareness of NCD risk factors needs to be increased. This requires community participation in PTM (penyakit tidak menular) integrated development activities (Posbindu). Posbindu PTM is an activity for early detection and monitoring of the main risk factors for PTM through community participation. The aim of this activity is cadre training and the establishment of a mesque-based Posbindu PTM. Methods: The method used is Asset Based Community Development (ABCD). The ABCD method is a service method that focuses on the strengths and capacities of local communities. The establishment of the PTM Posbindu was carried out at the Aisyah Abdul Latif Farah Mosque, Namorambe District, Deli Serdang Regency. There were 10 cadres recruited at Posbindu PTM Mosque. Results: The results of the establishment of the mask-based PTM Posbindu are expected to be able to detect PTM risk factors as early as possible and reduce the number of PTM congregants at mosques in particular and society in general. Conclusion: The socialization and formation of the mosque-based Posbindu PTM received positive support from the Deli Serdang Health Service and the Aisyah Abdul Latif Farah Mosque.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of the Village Food Safety Movement (GKPD) program initiated by BPOM in improving the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of food safety cadres in stunting and non-stunting villages in North Sumatra. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the GKPD intervention on food safety understanding and practices among cadres. The method used was a retrospective analysis with data from pre-test and post-test surveys on cadre groups in six villages during the period January to December 2022. The results showed that there was a significant increase in cadres' knowledge on food safety, with an average increase in general knowledge from 26.5% to 57.4% after the intervention. In addition, attitudes and behavioral aspects also showed progress, although some areas such as food processor hygiene still require more attention. In conclusion, the GKPD program is effective in increasing cadres' awareness and ability to manage food safety, which is expected to contribute to food security at the village level.
