Abstract

Background: Pain is the most frequent reason for the patient to go to the doctor. Pain is a very subjective symptom, it is usually rather difficult to see the pain except the patient's own complaint. There are many physical therapy modalities available, TENS is the most frequently used modality, even done by the community itself at home. Purpose: This study aims to determine whether there is a significant effect of using transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation to reduce pain. Research method: The research method uses an experimental method with a quantitative approach. The sampling technique used is the nonprobability sampling approach by considering the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: From the test results the Mann Whitney test shows that the Z value is -4, 722 with the Assimp value. Sig. As big as 0,000, which is smaller than 0.05. thus Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. So it can be concluded that there is an effect of the use of TENS on the pain threshold. Pain can be reduced with the application of TENS
