Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are businesses undertaken by several individuals to sell their respective goods. The types and forms of these enterprises vary, encompassing clothing, food, goods, and services. One example of an MSME in Sleman is the production of chips from salak fruit, where the original fruit is processed into a snack without preservatives because its taste is already sweet, akin to the original fruit. To promote these MSME products and strengthen their branding, efforts are made in designing visual communication through advertising media. Advertising media design and the SWOT method are employed to produce advertising media that are appropriate, accurate, and communicative according to the target audience, thereby enhancing the visibility and positive progress of MSMEs in Sleman.

Abstract

Karya tulis merupakan sebuah pemikiran yang dapat mengabadikan ide, ekspresi dan pemikiran kita, salah satunya adalah menulis cerita pendek atau disingkat dengan cerpen. Topi kini ditulis oleh Jakob Sumardjo dalam bukunya yang berjudul “catatan kecil tentang menulis cerpen”. Buku ini menarik karena membahas berbagai macam cara menulis untuk pemula, “catatan kecil tentang menulis cerpen”. Selain  itu dilengkapi pula dengan ilustrasi kaver yang menarik perhatian, berwujud sesosok orang tua memakai kacamata sedang mengunting secarik kertas koran yang terdiri dari banyak tulisan, ilustrasi manusia ini dihadirkan secara karikatur dengan kepala besar dan bagian atasnya tertulis catatan kecil tentang menulis cerpen, Jakob Sumardjo. Komposisi, warna, tektstur, ilustrasi dan teks yang dihadirkanakan sangat menarik bila kita tinjau melalui kajian Semiotika Charles Sanders Peirce untuk mengungkap makna dan maksud dari kaver buku ini.

Abstract

Sign systems play a role in supporting the convenience, comfort, and experience of visitors in an area, including tourist attractions. Goa Putri Baturaja is a tourist destination in South Sumatra and already has a sign system. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the sign system in the Goa Putri tourist attraction on the convenience and suitability with the installation environment in the area. The approach in this study is the observation and qualitative descriptive method, supported by the analysis of the sign system design. The results of this study indicate that the sign system in Goa Putri Baturaja is still less effective, especially as a direction indicator, and less in accordance with the characteristics of the surrounding environment. Several factors that influence this effectiveness include readability, material selection, placement, and suitability of the design to the surrounding natural context. The findings of this study indicate that it is necessary to improve the design of the sign system that takes into account visual aspects, installation location, materials, and visitor needs to improve overall comfort and tourist experience.

Abstract

Book/magazine covers are one of the important things in protecting books, apart from that, they are also useful in introducing what is in the book, to communicate to the public, so that it is more attractive, appropriate illustrations or designs are needed and represent the contents of the magazine or book. Next, it is necessary to study the meaning of connotation and denotation through Roland Barthes' semiotic theory.
