Abstract

Wireless sensor network (WSN) consists of hundred to thousands sensor nodes to gathered the information from physical environment. Different clustering based algorithms have been proposed to improve network lifetime and energy efficiency. Practically it is not feasible to recharge the battery of sensor nodes when they are sensing the data. In such situation energy is crucial resource and it should be improved for life span of WSN. Cluster head (CH) has an important role in hierarchical energy efficient routing protocols because it receives data from nodes and sends towards base station (BS) or sink node. This paper presents a grid based cluster head selection (GBCHS) mechanism by dividing the network field into MXN uniform size partitions that aims to minimize the energy dissipation of sensor nodes and enhancing network lifetime. Simulation experiments have been performed in network simulator (NS2) that show our proposed GBCHS approach outperformed than standard clustering hierarchy LEACH protocol.

Abstract

Healthcare systems have been facing various new challenges due to increasing and rising aging population in healthcare. Advance information and communication technologies have introduced Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) for healthcare systems. WBANs provide different monitoring services in healthcare sector for monitoring their patients with more convenience. WBANs are economical solutions and non-invasive technology for healthcare applications. This review paper provides a comprehensive review on WBANs applications, services and recent challenges.

Abstract

Wireless sensor network (WSN) consists of several tiny devices that are dispersed randomly for gathering network field. Clustering mechanism divides the WSN into different sub-regions called clusters. Individual cluster is consisting of cluster head (CH) and member nodes. The main research challenges behind clustering mechanism are to optimize network overheads with efficient data delivery. Sensor nodes are operated by batteries and practically it is not feasible to replace them during sensing the environment so energy should be effectively utilized among sensors for improving overall network performance. This research paper presents an improved energy aware cluster based data routing (i-ECBR) scheme, by dividing the network regions into uniform sized square partitions and localized CH election mechanism. In addition, consistent end-to-end data routing is performed for improving data dissemination. Simulation results illustrate that our proposed scheme outperforms than existing work in terms of different performance metrics.

Abstract

A vehicular Ad hoc network is an emerging and widely adopted technology because of their potentiality for innovative applications in transportation sector. Recently, the technology has been faced various challenges and rely on expensive architecture. The implementation of Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) in vehicular networks reduces the required investment and improves intelligent applications performance for driving safety and traffic efficiency. In this paper, we propose a wireless sensor based hybrid architecture for navigation systems for vehicular Ad hoc networks. The architecture is suitable for mountain range roads, where vehicles cannot communication properly. The propose architecture is used to exchange and perceive roadside information and helpful in navigation decision process and for alert messages.

Abstract

IEEE 802.16 standard provides resources to both service classes Constant Bit Rate (CBR) and Variable Bit Rate (VBR). Both of these services required enough resources to transmit data efficiently.Considering available literature there is a gap to provide additional resources for fulfillment of the required service class. In this paper we propose a Service Based Fair Resource Allocation (SBFRA) Mechansim, for evaluating the required service from Subscriber (SS) along with the channel condition. Our proposed model evaluates, for providing the required service to SS how much additional resource will be required. In this model we introduced Priority Queue Scheduling Methodology for providing additional resources as per channel condition. In this paper we made comparison with and without proposed model on both traffic, CBR and VBR. We experiment that our proposed model manages the user request by providing them additional resources as required for satisfaction. Their request handled in Priority Queue Scheduling based mechanism. Results shows, that we achieve improvement by providing the additional resource on fair scheduling basis. To achieve the required performance for fairness we have to compromise on with delay.

Abstract

Computer system security has become a major concern over the past few years. Attacks, threats or intrusions, against computer system and network have become commonplace events. However, there are some system devices and other tools that are available to overcome the threat of these attacks. Currently, cyber attack is a major research and inevitable. This paper presents some steps of penetration in FreeBSD operating system, some tools and new steps to attack used in this experiment, probes for reconnaissance, guessing password via brute force, gaining privilege access and flooding victim machine to decrease availability. All these attacks were executed and infiltrate within the environment of Intrusion Threat Detection Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (ITD UTM) data set. This work is expected to be a reference for practitioners to prepare their systems from Internet attacks.
