Abstract

Finger eggplant is a valuable fruit vegetable that is highly sought by the Indonesian population. Unfortunately, its production has been declining annually due to diminishing soil fertility. To address this issue, it is essential to enhance the soil's physical, chemical, and biological properties to boost both finger eggplant production and soil productivity. This can be achieved by applying liquid organic fertilizer made from pineapple skin, combined with Azolla pinnata and NPK fertilizer. The objective of this study is to evaluate the interaction and individual effects of pineapple skin liquid organic fertilizer (POC) with Azolla pinnata and NPK on the growth and yield of finger eggplant (Solanum melongena L.). The research took place at the Experimental Farm of the Faculty of Agriculture at Riau Islamic University in Pekanbaru, running from June to September 2024. A factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was employed, featuring two factors. The first factor involved varying levels of pineapple skin POC with Azolla pinnata, specifically 0, 50, 150, and 250 ml per liter of water. The second factor consisted of four levels of NPK fertilizer: 0, 10, 20, and 30 g per plant, resulting in 16 treatment combinations with three replications, yielding a total of 48 experimental units. The parameters measured included plant height, flowering age, harvest age, number of fruits per plant, total fruit weight per plant, weight per fruit, and number of remaining fruits. The collected data were analyzed statistically, followed by further BNJ tests at the 5% significance level. The findings revealed that the interaction between pineapple skin POC, Azolla pinnata, and NPK fertilizer (15:9:20) significantly influenced several parameters, including plant height, flowering age, harvest age, number of fruits per plant, total fruit weight per plant, weight per fruit, and number of remaining fruits. The optimal treatment was identified as the combination of pineapple skin POC with Azolla pinnata at 250 ml per liter of water and NPK fertilizer at 30 g per plant. In conclusion, the study indicates that using pineapple skin POC combined with Azolla pinnata at a concentration of 250 ml per liter of water, along with 30 g of NPK fertilizer per plant, can effectively enhance finger eggplant production. Additionally, it is recommended to increase the phosphorus content in the NPK fertilizer for more optimal growth of the eggplant plants.

Abstract

The decline in land area and the stagnation of cocoa production pose challenges for managing a sustainable cocoa production system, resulting in low plant productivity. One contributing factor is the use of suboptimal cultivation techniques, so improvements must begin at the nursery stage. The study aims to determine the interaction and main effects of Pineapple Peel POC and organic NPK on the growth of cocoa plant seedlings. The study was conducted at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Pekanbaru, from May to August 2025. The study used a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors. The first factor was Pineapple Peel POC, with four treatment levels: 0, 25, 50, and 75 ml/l of water. The second factor was organic NPK at four levels (0, 10, 14, and 18 g/plant). The parameters observed were cocoa plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, total leaf area, and root volume. Observation data were analyzed for variance, and the BNJ test continued at the 5% level. Based on the results of the study, the interaction effect of pineapple peel POC and organic NPK was significant for cocoa plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, total leaf area, and root volume. The best treatment was pineapple peel POC at 75 ml/l in water, with organic NPK at 18 g/plant. The main effect of pineapple peel POC was significant on all parameters, and the best treatment was pineapple peel POC at a concentration of 75 ml/l of water. The main effect of organic NPK was substantial across all parameters; the best treatment was 18 g/plant.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the interaction between Trichocompost and Organic NPK on the growth and production of Red Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L. Moench) in PMK soil. This research was conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture's experimental farm, Universitas Islam Riau, from January to April 2023. This study used a Completely Randomized Factorial Design with two factors. The first factor was Trichocompost with 4 treatment levels (0, 10, 20, and 30 g per plant), and the second factor was the dose of Organic NPK fertilizer with 4 treatment levels (0, 7.5, 15, and 22.5 g per plant). Each treatment consisted of 3 replications, for a total of 48 experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of 4 plants; therefore, there were 192 plants. Two plants were used as samples for each experimental unit. Parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, number of fruit per plant, number of fruit per plot, weight of fruit per plant, weight of fruit per plot, weight of fruit per fruit, and amount of remaining fruit. Observational data were analyzed statistically using the Follow-Up Test for Honest Significant Differences (BNJ) at the 5% level. The results showed that the interaction of Trichocompost and Organic NPK fertilizer had a significant effect on all observation parameters. The best treatment combination was found in Trichocompost 30 g/plant and Organic NPK fertilizer 22.5 g/plant.
