Abstract

Title : Rice-field Cultivation Continuously was Accelerated Soil Weathering. This research was aimed to find out the existence of soil acceleration development indication as the result of the cultivation which was done continuously and for a long period. This research was done by analyzing soil samples which were taken from non-rice-field soil and cultivated soil which had been used for 20 years, 30 years, and 40 years in cultivation intensity once a year, twice a year and three times a year. Those analyzed soils had the same primary substances. The sand and clay content in the soil was chosen as the indicator of the soil weathering acceleration because of rice-field cultivation. From the data gathered, it was analyzed the connection with the cultivation length and cultivation pattern through the similarities of correlation and regression. The research result showed that: soil which was used continuously and for a long period would tend to decrease the sand content but increase the clay content in the soil. The increase of clay and the decrease of sand in the soil indicated the high soil weathering intensity which would fasten the soil development. Therefore, it is suggested that it is not needed to do puddling phase while land preparation phase, because puddling tend to mineral weathering, and if it is possible cultivation by no tillage soil system could be done. Keywords: sand and clay content in the soil, rice-field cultivation, and soil development

Abstract

Title : The Analysis of Agricultural Land Use in Protected Areas Watershed Samin for Landslide and Flood Disaster Mitigation. This study aims to analyze the protected areas Samin watershed which use for agriculture. Research done by interpretation of the Rupa Bumi Indonesian Map, Aerial Photos and Google Earth, continued by the field observation. From this study were concluded that the protected area with slope > 45% majority have used by agriculture, while the soil is dominated by Alfisol and Andisol, which have easily eroded and prone to landslides. Most of local protected areas (rivers basin) had disfunction and it is dominated by Entisol. The mentioned cause Samin watershed gristle of floods, dryness dan landslide disaster. Suggested to the local government to consider the revitalization of the protected areas Samin watershed. Keywords: agriculture, disaster mitigation, flood, landslide, Samin Watershed

Abstract

Title : Initial Assessment to Accelerate Recovery of The Affected Community Social Economic Mount Merapi Eruption Through The Cultivation of Silkworms. Research purposes to obtain the suitability of land for mulberry (Morus sp) in the affected area  2010  eruption  of  Mount  Merapi,  in  Balerante  Kemalang  Klaten  in  Central  Java.  This information  is necessary to create activities that can accelerate  the recovery of socio‐economic conditions of society through silkworm farming. The method used is an inventory of soil and land characteristics   through   field   surveys.   Step   (1)   an   inventory   of  climatic   factors,   soil   and topography to make the Land Unit Map (SPT). Stage (2) analysis of soil fertility in the laboratory to complement the characteristics of land that has not been obtained at the time of field survey. Stage (3) develop / describe the characteristics  of the land on each Land Unit on our soil. Stage (4) The process of evaluating the suitability of the land, the match (matching) characteristics  of land with mulberry plant growth requirements. The results of our actual and potential land suitability. This map is useful to provide guidance on the cultivation of mulberry plants. (Morus sp.),  Results  showed  that  most  of  land  unit  in  this  area  has  a  fitness  class  S2nr  (Quite  in accordance with the limiting nutrient retention)Keywords:  actual and potential land suitability, land characteristics, referrals, and cultivation
