Abstract

Wasting is an acute malnutrition which could indirectly increase infant mortality and morbidity. Currently, wasting was serious public health problem in Indonesia with 11,1% of prevalence. This study aimed to determine the incidence of wasting in childrens aged 6-59 months in the working area of Puskesmas Kelurahan Penjaringan I, North Jakarta from March to April, 2019. The researcher measured antropometry of children to see nutritional status based on indicator of BB/TB. A case control method, as well as purposive and accidental sampling technique, was carried out in this study. As many as 60 respondents were divided into 2 groups (30 cases group and 30 control group). The data were analyzed by using chi square test and multiple logistic regression. Infectious disease history (p=0.031) and protein intake (p=0.024) were associated with wasting incidence in children. Infectious diseases history was dominant factor determining of wasting in children aged 6-59 months in Puskesmas Kelurahan Penjaringan I, North Jakarta (OR=11.897; 95% CI=1.246-113.570). Fostering integrated health post by providing counseling about increasing nutrient intake especially protein intake and handling infectious diseases in children so that wasting can be handled properly.

Abstract

Introduction: Essential care for newborns requires a comprehensive strategy, while basic care for newborns includes breastfeeding, umbilical cord care, eye care, thermoregulation care, asphyxia management, recognition of danger signs, immunization, and low birth weight care. The care of newborns immediately after birth is important for parents to understand is one of the important factors to reduce neonatal mortality. The care of newborns immediately after birth is important for parents to understand is one of the important factors to reduce neonatal mortality Methods: The research design used was cross sectional with primary data with a sample of 98 mothers who had babies aged 0-6 months. The analysis used is chi square and multiple logistic regression. Results: As many as 72.5% of mothers carried out basic parenting practices for newborns by mothers well. Good maternal knowledge can increase the chances of mothers doing basic care for newborns by their mothers well 3 times compared to mothers who have less knowledge after being controlled by family support variables (p value 0.017; 95% CI 1.2-7.9). Conclusion: Health workers should be able to provide basic knowledge of newborn care since pregnancy and improve health promotion by involving other members of the mother's family.

Purpose: To determine the effect of balanced nutrition animated videos on efforts to prevent anemia in young women. Purpose: To determine the effect of balanced nutrition animated videos on efforts to prevent anemia in young women. Methods: Quantitative research using a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach with a control group design. A sample of 50 female adolescents in each group was determined using a proportional random sampling technique, then the knowledge and attitude scores of adolescents were measured before and after treatment. Data analysis used the independent t test. Results: The average score of female adolescents' knowledge about efforts to prevent anemia in the treatment group that was given the intervention was higher than the control group (p=0.0001). The average score of the attitudes of young women regarding efforts to prevent anemia in the treatment group was higher than that of the control group (p=0.0001). Conclusion: Animated video on balanced nutrition can be used as an extension medium in providing education to students, especially young women, in preventing anemia.
