Abstract

Background : Decubitus prevention need the knowledge, attitude, motivation, and behavior of nurses. Objective : To identify the description of nurses role’s in decubitus prevention in Internal medicine ward of hospital in Yogya. Method : This was a descriptive design by using cross sectional time approach. The number of samples was 15 respondents selected through total sampling technique. The analysis applied descriptive statistic. Result : The majority of nurses had positive role’s in decubitus prevention as many as 10 respondents (66.7%), the nurses role’s according to some characteristics were as follows; The nurses role in the assessment on decubitus risk factor was in good category as many as 9 respondents (60.0%), the nurses role in skin care for patients was in good category as many as 9 respondents (60.0%), the nurses role in patients nutritional status enhancement was in good category as many as 10 respondents (66.7%), the nurses role in support surface was in sufficient category as many as 12 respondents (80.0%), and the nurses role in providing education was in good category as many as 13 respondents (86.7%). Conclusion : The nurses role’s in decubitus prevention in internal medicine ward of hospital in Yogya is in good category. Keywords : Decubitus prevention, Nurses role’s,Positive role’s

Abstract

Background: Many studies show a low rate of immediate chest compression in OHCA cases. One of the factors that inhibits is the lack of knowledge of lay people who witness cases of cardiac arrest. Objective: To determine the effect of providing compression-only CPR training on chest compression skills in lay people Methods: This research used pre-experiment with one group pre-post test design, with a total of 28 respondents, using simple random sampling technique. Respondents measured chest compression skills before training, then provided training for 120 minutes.Wilcoxon test was used to analyze data sets. Results: There were almost the same number between male and female respondents, and most have never received CPR training. Only 5 respondents had received previous training, with details of 3 years, 6 years, 8 years, 9 years and 11 years ago. There was a difference in the accumulation of the accuracy of chest compression before and after training with a p-value of 0,000. Conclusion: Compression only-CPR training can improve chest compression skills, especially aspects of accuracy of compression. Broader training and intensification of training programs are needed to realize emergency preparedness in the campus community. Keywords: Cardiac arrest, CPR, training

Abstract

Background: Burns are the most potential type of injury experienced by housewives. Improper first aid burns can worsen the condition. Objective: To determine the first aid practice of burns incidents among housewives in Sleman region Yogyakarta. Methods: Descriptive design with a naturalist approach was used in this study. A total of 84 respondents were selected using simple random sampling technique with the criteria of housewives who are still actively doing activities in the kitchen, as well as other household activities. Data collection uses a questionnaire with closed and open combination question types. Data analysis was performed descriptively. Results: A total of 5 aspects of the first aid of burns are appropriate (Running immediately during a fire in the house (47.6%); releasing jewelry (58.3%); splashing the wound with cold running water (54.8%); not watering if more than 3 hours (86.9%); and let the bullae break apart (66.7%)). There are still 3 aspects that are not yet right (running while ducking when trapped (47.6%); removing clothes (42.9%); and length of time watering <5 minutes (50%)). Conclusion: Not all aspects of the first aid are done properly. Health education and health promotion efforts are needed to improve better practice of burns first aid.
