Abstract

This research aimed to investigate whether the implementation of cooperative learning model of TPS type could increase students mathematical communication ability. This research design was pretest-posttest control design. The population of this research was students of grade 8th of SMPN 9 Kota Metro in academic years of 2013/2014 which was distributed into seven class. The samples of this research were students in two classes who were taken by purposive random sampling technique. The research data were obtained by the test of mathematical communication ability. Based on hypothesis test, it was found conclusion that the implementation of TPS learning model did not increase students mathematical communication ability.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Desain penelitian ini adalah pretest-posttest control design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMPN 9 Kota Metro tahun pelajaran 2013/2014 yang terdistribusi dalam tujuh kelas. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa pada dua kelas yang diambil dengan teknik purposive random sampling. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis. Berdasarkan pengujian hipotesis, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran TPS tidak meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa.Kata kunci: komunikasi matematis, konvensional, TPS
