<![CDATA[This was a quasi-experimental research that aimed to know the effectiveness of cooperative learning model of TAI type viewed by student’s understanding of mathematical concept as compared to conventional learning. The design of this research was posttest only control design. The population of this research was all students of grade eighth of Junior High School state 1 of Punggur. The samples of this research were VIII.8 class students as experimental class and VIII.6 class students as control class. The samples were taken by purposive sampling technique. Based on the result of hypothesis testing, it showed that the student’s understanding of mathematical concept who taught by TAI model was higher than conventional learning. The conclusion of this research was the learning model of TAI was more effective than conventional learning viewed by student’s understanding of mathematical concept.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TAI ditinjau dari pemahaman konsep matematis siswa dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Desain penelitian ini adalah posttest only control design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Punggur. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII.8 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan siswa kelas VIII.6 sebagai kelas kontrol. Sampel dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian hipotesis, diperoleh bahwa pemahaman konsep matematis siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan model TAI lebih tinggi daripada pembelajaran konvensional.
