Abstract

This study aims to 1) determine the effect of material composite and glycerol concentration towards bioplastic characteristics 2) determine the mixture of composite and glycerol concentrations to produce the best characteristics of bioplastic composite. This research used a factorial randomized block design with 2 factors. First factor was the mixture of cassava starch skin and chitosan (starch: chitosan) which was consisted of 3 levels: 3g : 2g ; 3.5g : 1.5g ; 4g : 1g. The second factor was glycerol concentration of 3 levels: 1%, 1.5%, and 2%. Data was analyzed by using ANOVA and continued with Duncan test. The results showed that interaction between treatments very significantly affected the tensile strength and elasticity. The interaction between treatments was significantly affected toward elongation and the ability of biodegradation. The composite mixture of starch : chitosan (4 g: 1 g) and 1.5% glycerol concentration was the best treatment with characteristic of tensile strength 0.39MPa, elongation 44.06%, elasticity 0.008MPa, biodegradability 66.61% and the morphological characteristics is porous, because chitosan fiber larger than starch. Abstract

This study aims to 1) Determine the effect of drying temperature on the characteristics of pumpkin flour 2) Determine the best temperature to produce the best characteristics pumpkin flour 3) Determine the financial feasibility of flour pumpkin. This research is designed using a laboratory scale randomized block design with treatments that drying temperature (50, 60, 70, and 80) ?C and 3 grouping processing time. The best treatment is determined by the effectiveness of the test, followed by analysis of financial. The resut showeds that drying temperature of the flour pumpkin had very significant effect on yield, water content, ash content, protein content, fat content, carbohydrate content and levels of beta carotene. Pumpkin flour best treatment is temperature 60?C with characteristics: yield of 22.00%, 14.51% water content, ash content of 5.79%, 1.07% protein content, and fat content 1.19%, carbohydrate content 82.02% and beta carotene levels of 2295.81 g / 100g. Pumpkin flour production costs with the best treatment Rp.166.780.400 a year and price was Rp.41.063/ kg, Break Event Point analysis of 2.241,77 kg a year, Return on Investment of 35.06%, and Pay Back Period of 2,85 years so it is feasible to run the bussines. Abstract

This research were aimed to 1) investigate amount of green mustard distribution lanes from the farmers in Banjarangkan District to the retailers 2) to investigate kind of distribution lanes and post harvest handling at each distribution lanes of green mustard and 3) to investigate Pb and Cd content in green mustard which was distributed from the farmers at Banjarangkan District to the retailers. The study used a survey method with the application of CSAM in the form of questionnaire distributed to farmers, collectors, wholesalers, and retailers green mustard. Laboratory analysis using AAS to determine the levels of Pb and Cd in green mustard. There were four distribution lanes of green mustard from farmer at Banjarangkan District to Retailers, namely lane 1 (farmer ? retailer), lanes II (farmer ? collector ? retailer), lanes III (farmer ? collector ? wholesaler ? retailer) and lanes IV (farmer ? collector ? retailer). Postharvest handling at the farm include harvesting, sorting, weighing and transporting, postharvest handling at the suppliers and wholesalers includes sorting and transporting, postharvest handling at the retail includes sorting and display. Impact on postharvest loss of green mustard at farm were on process of sorting reached 12%. At suppliers level was on the sorting reached 4 % (not significant) at the traders was on sorting process reached 6% (significant). Loss impact on retail level was on the display reached 12% (significant). The concentration of heavy metal Pb and Cd on lane I ranged of 0,4768–0,4966 mg/kg and 0,4718–0.4768 mg/kg; in the lane II ranged of 0,3675–0.4519 mg/kg and 0.4867–0.5562 mg/kg; in the lane III ranged of 0.3129–0.4023 mg/kg and 0.5016–0.5662 mg/kg; in the lane IV ranged of 0.3923–0.4370 mg/kg and 0.5066–0.5314 mg/kg. Abstract

Kunyit asam and sinom are the kinds of Indonesian traditional beverage, which have a potency to be developed as a source of antioxidant. The research was carried out to determine the antioxidant capacity of kunyit asam and sinom beverages and their inhibition activity against ?-glucosidase. Antioxidant capacity was analyzed using DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method. Regression method was used to find out the correlation between the antioxidant capacity of the beverage and percentage of inhibited ?-glucosidase The result showed that antioxidant capacity of both beverages correlated significantly with the percentage of ?-glucosidase inhibition. Antioxidant capacity of kunyit asam beverage was 2.04 mg GAEAC/g (2,042 ppm) and its IC50 was about 146.48 ppm against the activity of ?-glucosidase. Sinom beverage had antioxidant capacity of 1.88 mg GAEAC/g (1,881 ppm) and its IC50 was 231.37 ppm. Keywords : kunyit asam, sinom, antioxidant, inhibition, and ?-glucosidase

Abstract

The aims of this study were to know the effect of addition of NaNO3 and K2HPO4 on BG-11 medium on biomass and chlorophyll concentration of Tetraselmis chuii and to fine out the best concentration of NaNO3 and K2HPO4 on BG-11 medium to produce highest biomass and chlorophyll concentration of Tetraselmis chuii. This study used a factorial randomized block design.The first factor was NaNO3consists of three levels i.e. 0.5, 1.5 and 2.5 g/l. The second factor wasK2HPO4consists of three levels i.e. 0.020, 0.035 and 0.050 g/l. The experiments were grouped into 2 groups based on the time of culturitation, in order to obtain 18 experimental units. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance and if the treatment significantly affected the parameter followed by Duncan test. The result showed that addition of NaNO3 and K2HPO4had very significant effect on the concentration of biomass and chlorophyll content of Tetraselmis chuii. The addition of NaNO31.5 g/l and K2HPO40.035 g/l was produce the highest of biomass and chlorophyll concentration of 3.3 x 106cells/ml and 10.17 mg/g, respectively. Abstract

This studied aims to determine the effect of various types of immersion on the characteristics of purple sweet potato chips and determines the specific type of immersion will produce the best purple sweet potato chips. This experiment used a randomized block design (RBD) using 4 types of immersion is 0.1% CaCl2, 0.1% baking powder, 0.1% Na metabisulphite, water. Each treatment except water dissolved in 2 liters of water and stirred until homogeneous then grouped into 4 time process in order to obtain 16 units experiment. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance followed by Duncan test. The results of this study are the various type of immersion material effect on moisture content, ash content, and the anthocyanin content of the purple sweet potato chips sensory properties (color, aroma, flavor, texture, and overall acceptance). Characteristics of purple sweet potato chips are best obtained in the treatment of immersion Na metabisulphite type material with 5.14% moisture content, ash content of 3.97%, 0.542% anthocyanins levels. For sensory properties, color 5,35 (rather like), aroma 5.00 (rather like), taste 6,05 (like), texture 5.95 (like) and overall acceptance 5.95 (like).

Abstract

This research were aimed to 1) find out the effect of comparison between water and taro and sodium metabisulphite consentration as marinade solution on the quality of taro starch, 2) to find out the best characteristic of taro starch based on comparison of water and taro and sodium metabisulphite consentration as marinade solution. This study used a factorial Randomized Block Design with factorial pattern. The first factor was the comparison of water and taro consists of 3 levels namely 2:1, 3:1 and 4:1 and the second factor wasconcentration of sodium metabisulphite consetration consists of 3 levels namely 0 %, 0.2% and 0.3%. Each treatment grouped into two based on the time implementation. Variables observed were water content, starch content, amilosa, organoleptic test and yield. The best treatment was determined with effectiveness index. The results showed that the comparison of water and taro and sodium metabisulphite consentration as marinade solution had high significantly effect on water content and amilosa content at characteristic of taro starch, while its interaction was not significant. Comparison of water and sodium metabisulphite substance and its interaction had significantly effect on starch content of taro and its yield. The treatment concentration of sodium metabisulphite 0.3 % and comparison water and taro 4:1obtained the best quality of taro starch with 8.87 % water content, 65.23 % starch content, 15.75 % amilosa content, 3.84 multiple comparison test (near to Refrence) and 21.58 % yield. Abstract

The aimed of research were to determine the type of pakcoy mustards distribution lines from farmers in Baturiti District to retailers to determine the distribution lines and postharvest handling of pakcoy mustard from farmers in Baturiti District to retailers, and to determine the impact of postharvest loss and pesticide residues in pakcoy mustard from farmers in Baturiti District to retailers. The study used a survey method with the application of Commodity System Assessment Method in the form of questionnaire distributed to farmers, collectors, wholesalers, and retailers pakcoy mustard. There were three distribution lines of pakcoy mustard, line 1 (farmers ----retailers), lane II (farmers ---- collectors --- retailers), lane III (farmers ---- collectors ---- wholesalers ---- retailers). Postharvest handling at the farm level include of harvesting, sorting, packaging, and transporting. Postharvest handling at the level of collector and wholesalers includes the weighing and transporting, postharvest handling at the retailer level includes inspection, packaging, and display. The impact on postharvest loss pakcoy mustard at farm level was at harvesting level reached 13%, at collectors level was in the process of transporting up to 2%, at the level of big traders on transporting reached 2%, and at the retail level on the display reached 9%.

Abstract

The aims of this research were: 1) to determine the effect of drying temperature and drying time to the characteristics of biodegradable composite plastic from cassava skin starch and chitosan, 2) to obtain the best of drying temperature and drying time to produce the best characteristic of biodegradable composite plastic from cassava skin starch and chitosan. This research was performed using factorial randomize block design. The first factor was 3 levels of drying temperature in 50 o C, 60 o C, and 70 o C. The second factor was the 3 levels of drying time in 4, 5, and 6 hours. The ingredients to produce the main ingredients of cassava skin starch were aquadest; chitosan; 3.5%:44%, and 1.5%:50% of vinegar solutions; and 1% of glycerol. The best result which had 1.04 MPa of tensile strength value, elongation of 54.99%, modulus young of 0.019 MPa, biodegradability of 51.18% with porous morphology and brownish flocks was obtained from 50 o C and 6 hours of drying temperature and drying time, respectively. Abstract

Consumer interest to plant peppers this time began to increase, in line with the need for a clear marketing pattern of distribution is a very useful plant. In Bali, the demand for this crop has increased from year to year. The issue of marketing margin distribution channels and gain peppers from Denpasar to Baturiti unknown. Therefore, this study aimed to determine: (1) the number and types of distribution channels Kecamatan Baturiti peppers from Tabanan regency to the consumers in Denpasar City, (2) the differences between marketing and profit margins on every distribution channel Baturiti peppers from Tabanan to Denpasar City, (3) the differences marketing margins and profits are the highest and lowest of distribution channels peppers. The research method used is qualitative research and the type is survey research with a research instrument is direct interviews.The sampling technique used in this study is purposive sampling, in order to obtain samples as follows: 30% of the sample farmers (14 people), 8 collectors, 4 wholesalers, and retailers 7. There are two results of this study, namely: (1) there are 5 peppers marketing distribution channels through the district of Tabanan Baturiti to Denpasar consumer, (2) the greatest marketing margin distribution channels contained in line-5 that was Rp 22.000,00 (220%) and the smallest marketing margin contained in the distribution line-1 was Rp 6.667,00 (62.50%), the largest profit margins was in line-5 with the amount Rp 20.000,00 (203.24%), the smallest profit margin was on distribution line-1 with the amount Rp 5.856,00 (54.90%). Thus, it can be concluded that the size of the marketing margin in line with the size of the profit margin.
