Abstract

This quasi experimental research aimed to know the effect of the contextual approach towards student's mathematical problem solving ability. This research used a post-test only control design. The population of this research was all students of grade 8th of MTs Al Hikmah Bandar Lampung in the academic year of 2013/2014. The samples of this research were students of VIII.A and VIII.D which were taken by purposive sampling. Based on the result of hypothesis test, it was gotten conclusion that the implementation of the contextual approach affects towards student’s mathematical problem solving skill.Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan kontekstual terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan post-test only control design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII semester genap MTs Al Hikmah Bandar Lampung tahun pelajaran 2013/2014. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII.A dan VIII.D yang diambil menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian hipotesis, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa penerapan pendekatan kontekstual berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa.Kata kunci: konvensinal, pemecahan masalah matematis, pendekatan kontekstual
