Abstract

aboratory wastewater is produced through laboratory activities. Laboratory wastewater can have a large impact on the environment if it is not processed before being discharged into the water body. Laboratory waste treatment can be carried out using suspended growth technology to reduce pollutant loads, especially Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD5) and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD). Aims: This study aims to treat wastewater produced by the activity of laboratory using suspended growth technology. Methodology and Results: This research was conducted by finding the most efficient rotor rotation in degrading the load of BOD5 and COD pollutants. The reactor used is a Mixed Flow Reactor type reactor made of acrylic material with a thickness of 5.5 mm. The reactor is arranged into three series with the same sampling time and different rotor turns that expressed in rotors per minute (rpm). The reactor series consists of Reactor I with 50 rpm rotor rotation speed, 100 rpm Reactor II and 150 rpm Reactor III. Processing is carried out using 8 hours of detention time and variation of sampling time every 8 hours. Conclusion, significant and impact study: From the results of the study obtained the highest level of effectiveness of reducing pollutant load on processing using 150 rpm rotor rotation and 40 hours sampling time which is 94.6% for BOD5 parameters and 94.4% for COD parameters.

Abstract

Untreated domestic wastewater can pollute the aquatic ecosystem. Vermifilter integrated with the Canna indica plant is one of the technological alternatives that can be used to treat domestic wastewater. One of affecting the performance of vermifilters is the vermibed media. Aim: This study aims to examine the effect of vermibed material on the concentration of COD, TP, DO, and the pH value of domestic wastewater treated with vermifilter combined with Canna indica plants. Methodology and Results: The research was conducted on a laboratory scale with a a continuous system using a plastic reactor dimension of 59 x 38 x 29 cm, which is filled with sand filter media, coconut fiber, gravel, and vermibed. The vermibed reactor consists of 4 reactors including reactor 1 (R1) vegetable vermibed, reactor 2 (R2) sawdust, reactor 3 (R3) banana peel, and reactor 4 (R4) cow dung. The results showed that  at the end of the research, the best performance is showed by reactor R2 that able to decrease COD 94.81%, TP 92.07%, DO increase 320.00%, pH 6.30±0.10.  Vermibed sawdust (R2) can lower COD, TP and raise DO higher to treat domestic wastewater by combining vermifilter with Canna indica plant.  Conclusion, significance, and impact study:  Vermifilter with Canna indica plant is an effective wastewater treatment in reducing COD, TP, increasing DO and pH value.   This treatment is easy processing of operation and maintenance, does not require large land, can be done on an individual scale, and is environmentally friendly.

Abstract

Vermifilter is a greywater waste treatment by utilizing the symbiosis of earthworms with microbes. Vermifilter is more efficient, simple in design, and easy to maintain. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of vermibed material on the concentration of BOD5, NH3-N, and DO in greywater waste treatment using vermifilter. The study used four vermifilter reactors (VF) with filtration media for gravel, coconut fiber, rough sand, and vermibed. Reactor VF1 uses a vermibed mixture of mustard greens and cabbage, VF2 sawdust, VF3 banana stalk, and VF4 cow dung. This study provides results that VF1 removal BOD5 90%, NH3-N 98%, and increase DO 164%; FV2 removal BOD5 92%, NH3-N 98%, and increase DO 185%; FV3 removal BOD5 94.5% NH3-N 98.5%, and increased DO 156%; and FV4 decreased BOD5 93%, NH3-N 99%, and increased DO 270%. The media material had no significant effect on the concentration of BOD, NH3-N, and DO.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kasus kekerasan seksual yang terjadi di tempat kerja berdasarkan undang-undang nomor 12 tahun 2022 tentang tindak pidana pelecehan seksual dan pertanggungjawaban pelaku. Kemudian menganalisis kondisi-kondisi kebergantungan dilihat dari motif kronologi kasus. Metode yang penulis gunakan yaitu metode kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan yuridis empiris. Data diperoleh dari hasil wawancara tiga orang korban, hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa adanya tindak pelecehan sesksual. Di dalam undang-undang nomor 12 tahun 2022 tentang tindak pidana kekerasan seksual terdapat hak penanganan, hak perlindungan dan hak pemulihan bagi para korban, akan tetapi di PT.Plasess Indonesia tidak terdapat perlindungan pelecehan seksual bagi para pekerja wanita yang mengalami pelecehan seksual. Di dalam undang-undang nomor 12 tahun 2022 tentang tindak pidana pelecehan seksual menyebutkan bahwa penerapan sanksi pelecehan seksual nonfisik berupa sanksi pidana penjara selama 9 bulan dan denda sebanyak Rp.10.000.000 (sepuluh juta rupiah). Sedangkan di PT.Plasess Indonesia sendiri tidak ada sanksi khusus untuk pelaku pelecehan seksual maupuan perlindungan hukum bagi pekerja perempuan yang mengalami pelecehan seksual sebagai mana yang tertera dalam PKB (perjanjian kerja Bersama).

Abstract

The liquid waste of the UNIPA Surabaya Environmental Engineering laboratory has not fulfilled the requirements of the Minister of Environment Regulation Number 5 of 2014, so it needs to be processed so as not to pollute the Environment. This study aims to examine the effect of the coagulant dose of Poly Alum Chloride (PAC) on decreasing Pb, Cr, and TDS, assessing the quality of wastewater after neutralization, coagulation and adsorption especially for Pb, Cr, TDS, and pH parameters. The variables of this study were PAC doses of 150 mg / L, 225 mg / L and 300 mg / L. The research was carried out on a laboratory scale with a continuous system with downflow. The adsorption media used are fibers, coconut fiber, bagasse activated carbon and multilevel zeolites in the reactor from the PVC pipe. Adsorption process is carried out for 2 hours and sampling every 15 minutes. The results of this study showed that the PAC 300 mg / L produced the highest reduction efficiency, namely TDS 13.7% Cr 97%, Pb 93.5%, and the quality of waste after neutralization, coagulated and adsorbed in the 15th minute having TDS 1.810 levels ppm, Cr total 0.36 ppm, Pb 0.66 ppm so that wastewater has met the quality standards in accordance with Regulation of the Minister of Environment No. 5 of 2014 while the pH of 5.42 does not meet the quality standard.

Abstract

Permasalahan pengelolaan sampah menjadi isu penting di berbagai wilayah, termasuk di Desa Kepatihan Kecamatan Tukangan Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Volume sampah rumah tangga yang terus meningkat memerlukan solusi berbasis masyarakat yang berkelanjutan. Program pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk menerapkan sistem bank sampah di Desa Kepatihan Kecamatan Tulangan Kabupaten Sidoarjo, sebagai upaya meningkatkan pendapatan keluarga dan mengatasi permasalahan lingkungan. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi observasi dan identifikasi, sosialisasi dampak lingkungan sampah, implementasi bank sampah, pelatihan pemilahan sampah,  dan monitoring dan evaluasi kegiatan. Kegiatan sosialisasi dampak lingkungan sampah, implementasi bank sampah, pelatihan pemilahan sampah diikuti oleh pengurus PKK, anggota PKK dan perangkat Desa Tulangan sebanyak 45 orang. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman masyarakat tentang pemilahan sampah dan bank sampah mengalami peningkatan, yang semula menjawab sangat setuju hanya sekitar 16% namun setelah pelatihan dan sosialisasi, masyarakat yang menjawab sangat setuju meningkat hingga 52%. sehingga dapat disimpulkan masyarakat mulai memahami pentingnya memilah sampah dan nilai ekonomi dari sampah anorganik. Program ini berhasil menumbuhkan kesadaran lingkungan sekaligus mendukung ekonomi sirkular di tingkat desa.
