Abstract

Marunggai tree leaves tree is a special plant in East Nusa Tenggara province with its high nutrient. It grows mostly in the house environment of the congregation of Lahai Roi church, Tofa and it is manufactured only as a kind of vegetable that makes consumers are less interested, but if it is manufactured in different kinds of meals its consumption can get increased. The less understanding in manufacturing marunggai leaves may emerge undelicious smell. This writing is a public service one that is important to train all housewives in Lahai Roi congregation, Tofa to make pinnate leaves wet cakes. The methods used were discussion and training methods of making pinnate leaves wet cakes (like cake, brownie, and tiramisu cakes). The result shows that the percentages of those housewives understanding in making pinnate leaves cakes, such as cake, brownies, and tiramisu cakes are in orderly 97%, 95.2%, and 91.7%. These percentages indicate that the housewives in Lahai Roi congregation, Tofa have a good understanding and they can make pinnate leaves wet cakes. By conducting the training of making pinnate leaves wet cakes in Lahai Roi congregation, Tofa it can increase community interest in consuming pinnate leaves that have high nutrients. Abstrak Tanaman kelor merupakan salah satu tanaman khas NTT yang mempunyai nilai gizi tinggi. Tanaman ini banyak tumbuh dipekarangan jemaat Lahai Roi Tofa dan hanya diolah menjadi sayuransehingga kurang diminati namun jika diolah menjadi jenis makanan yang berbeda dan inovatif akan meningkatkan konsumsi kelor. Kurangnya pemahaman dalam mengolah daun kelor akan menghasilkan bau yang kurang sedap. Pengabdian ini penting untuk melatih kaum ibu jemaat Lahai Roi Tofa dalam membuat kue basah kelor. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini adalahdiskusi dan pelatihanpembuatan kue basah kelor (cake, brownis dan tiramisu). Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan persentasi pemahaman kaum ibu dalam pembuatan kue cake, brownis dan tiramisukelor berturut-turut adalah 97%, 95,2% dan 91,7%. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa kaum ibu jemaat Lahai Roi mampu dan memahami pembuatan kue basah kelor. Adanya pelatihan pembuatan kue basah berbahan kelor di jemaat Lahai Roi Tofa dapat meningkatkan minat masyarakat dalam mengkonsumsi daun kelor yang memiliki nilai gizi tinggi.

Abstract

Reading activities in this paper includes the habit of students in reading in their daily lives such as reading books, magazine, articles, online news and articles etc. Writing performance is the ability of students in expressing their ideas in written forms or paragraph. The aimed of the research is to find out the contribution of reading activities towards the students writing performance. This research applied descriptive method to describe the correlation between the reading activities and the students’ ability in writing. This research was conducted at SMAN 1 Soe, Kabupaten Timur Tengah Selatan (TTS), NTT. Findings of the research show that the reading habits of students have significant contribution towards the students’ writing ability. Mean score the reading is 81.13 and standard deviation is 8.26 and writing mean score is 68.93 and standard deviation is 8.12. The correlation test using Pearson Product Moment with SPSS 20 software program found that the score of significance is 991, which is higher than α score (991 ≥ 07), is classified as a good correlation. It indicates that when the students have a good reading habit, it will give good contribution towards their competence in writing.

Abstract

In this digital era, lecturers are expected to have digital-based skills that support learning activities in the classroom. Therefore, to organize cooperation as well as implement digital-based learning, Community Service activities were held for lecturers at the Sinar Pancasila Betun (STKIP) - Malaka Regency. Based on the analysis of the situation, several things that are considered priority issues that must be resolved include: (1) Alignment and integration of the Tridharma. (2) Integrating the preparation of digital-based Lesson Plans (RPS) with research and community service. (3) Implementing service into community service and vice versa. The solution provided is expected to produce the following results: In the first session, the team approached the lecturers regarding the need in teaching learning in the classroom. According to the results of the discussion is how to integrate the results of academic research with community service. Activities in the second session include lectures and discussions. While in the third session, the mentoring process is aimed at producing digital-based scientific work products.

Abstract

Realizing the importance of English in this modern era, the community service team has developed a learning program in a practical and interesting way that in learning English. Working with religious institutions was one of the methods to support government programs. The program was held in Letbaun Village, Semau District in Kupang Regency. The problem for most Sunday school children in this area was their lack of interest in learning English and limited access to telecommunication networks, so they were more guided by manual learning resources or textbooks. The underlying thing was the lack of vocabulary and grammar in English. The team conducted practical, creative, and fun English learning materials and videos to attract interest in learning English. The book was equipped with pictures and vocabulary relating to general English materials such as greetings, self-introduction, parts of the body, and names of days and months, also provided some Bible-themed materials (God’s creation, the ten plagues in Egypt, the Lord's Prayer in English, the name of the books in English). The book was provided with the aims, directions for Sunday School Teachers, and exercises. There were still several things that have not been achieved such as evaluation of learning outcomes. Abstract

This paper aims at describing the etymological meanings of places inside Soe as well as the morphological processes in forming place names in Soe. This research is a part of the writers’ concern about the decline of local people’s knowledge about their surroundings. There are 21 places’ names under investigation although it is also acknowledged that there are some other places’ names that we have not covered them yet. Result shows that the places’ names are taken from Uab Meto language. Those names are originated either from typical geographical situations of those places or historical events. In particular, the majority of the places’ names refer to springs or water sources to represent survivability of the people as shown 8 places’ names. Moreover, there are two morphological processes involved in those places’ names. They are compounding and affixation. In fact, 19 of the 21 places’ names can be morphologically grouped into endocentric compounds and the other two places’ names belong to affixation process. Realising that this kind of knowledge is something local people in Soe have paid less attention to, it is strongly suggested that this knowledge should be strengthened by imposing it in Soe local curriculum, i.e, local content.

Abstract

The research questions triggering the current research are (1) what valuable ideas of tolerance and solidarity are expressed in Adang proverbs? (2) How are the ideas of tolerance and solidarity conceptualized in proverbs? (3) How are the value-bearing proverbs of Adang taught and transmitted from generations to generations? (4) How do people of Adang community put these ideas of solidarity and tolerance in practice in their daily life? To investigate the answers to the questions, descriptive qualitative method was employed in the research, where data gathering was conducted via observation and interviews. Data obtained were then analyzed qualitatively. To obtain valid and reliable data as well as valid and reliable results of data analysis, looping and triangulation were applied. The results show that there are at least four important ideas of solidarity (or in Durkheim terms: four conscience of mechanical solidarity) expressed in Adang proverbs, namely (1) solidarity in settlement/ housing, (2) solidarity in sharing of livelihood, (3) solidarity in friendship and networking; and (4) solidarity in poverty and prosperity. These concepts or ideas of solidarity are all pertaining to Durkheim’s mechanical type of solidarity. With respect to ideas of tolerance, two Adang proverbs of multi-contexts idea of tolerance are uncovered. All these ideas or concepts of tolerance and solidarity are conceptualized metaphorically, i.e, with comparison to natural phenomena, including wild-life both marine and agricultural. The concepts of tolerance and solidarity lessons are communally up-held in daily life of the community and are taught and transmitted from generations to generations via folk songs, tales and puzzles.

Abstract

This study is entitled: Question Words In Mollo Dialect Of Uab Meto Spoken In Nunbena Village, South Central Timor Regency. The problems of this study is to find out the question words and their function in Mollo dialect of Uab Meto spoken in Nunbena Village, South Central Timor Regency. In order to get the data, the writers selected five native speakers of Mollo dialect of Uab Meto from Nunbena Village as informants. The instrument of this study is the writers themselves which assisted by using list of sentences in the form of questions. He provided list of questions in Indonesian, and the informants were asked to translate them into Mollo dialect of Uab Meto. Observation, interview, recording and note taking were the data collection techniques of this study. The writer analyzes the data by using three procedures, namely: identifying, classifying and describing. The result shows that: (1). there are nine question words that are used to express interrogatives in Mollo dialect of Uab Meto, namely: sa/sa’an (what), leka (when), sekau (who, whom,), onme (how), esme/makome/noime (where), le’me (which), nansa (why), fauk (how many and how much) and ai/ait (auxiliary)

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berupa kolaborasi antara tim pelaksana dengan kelompok Pelayanan Anak, Remaja dan Taruna di Kota Kupang dan Kabupaten Kupang yang tersebar dalam beberapa tempat. Selanjutnya, melalui kegiatan ini, diharapkan dapat menjadi salah satu kegiatan unggulan dan berkelanjutan melalui program Gembala Brilian (Pengembangan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris bagi Guru dan Anak Sekolah Minggu) yang telah dilaksanakan sejak tahun 2018 sampai saat ini, yang diharapkan berdampak positif di masa datang baik bagi para pengajar sekolah minggu maupun anak-anak sekolah minggu yang juga merupakan siswa Sekolah Dasar dan Sekolah Menengah. Metode yang diterapkan diharapkan terus meningkatkan usaha anak-anak dalam proses pembelajaran secara kreatif dan menyenangkan di Sekolah Minggu. beberapa hal yang dianggap sebagai masalah prioritas yang harus selesaikan antara lain adalah: (1) Peningkatan kosakata Bahasa Inggris. (2) Pelafalan kosakata Bahasa Inggris. (3) Meningkatkan antusias dan motivasi belajar Bahasa Inggris bagi anak Sekolah Minggu. Solusi yang ditawarkan berupa pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris yang kreatif dengan mengembangkan konten komik digital mengenai tokoh-tokoh yang terdapat dalam Alkitab dengan tampilan yang menarik dan mudah dipahami anak dan remaja. Produk PkM berupa komik yang dipresentasikan dalam bentuk buku juga digital sehingga dapat diakses dengan mudah. Luaran yang ditargetkan adalah penerbitan artikel di Jurnal Nasional terakreditasi. Kegiatan yang dilaksanakan merupakan salah satu peningkatan IPTEKs bagi tim pelaksana (dosen dan mahasiswa), juga Calon Vikaris dan Pengajar dari GMIT Imanuel Oepura Kupang. Hal-hal yang telah dicapai adalah sebagai berikut : pertama, diskusi dan penyamaan persepsi, kedua, penyaduran dan interpretasi konten komik digital, dan yang ketiga adalah pembuatan komik digital. Pada tahap akhir, diterbitkan pada Jurnal terakreditasi nasional.

Abstract

Budaya Dawan berfungsi sebagai penanda identitas dan simbol pembeda bagi kelompok etnis Dawan. Hal ini menonjolkan rasa memiliki masyarakat sekaligus membedakannya dari kelompok etnis lain. Perwujudan utama dari budaya ini terlihat dalam praktik perkawinan tradisional mereka, yang mencerminkan struktur sosial dan nilai-nilai masyarakat Dawan. Penelitian ini berfokus pada dua bentuk utama perkawinan tradisional: perkawinan endogami, khususnya perkawinan lintas sepupu dan perkawinan antar marga. Perkawinan silang sepupu, bertujuan untuk memelihara ikatan keluarga dan memastikan warisan tetap berada dalam keluarga, berupaya memulihkan hubungan yang sebelumnya terputus oleh perkawinan sebelumnya. Sebaliknya, perkawinan antar suku, yang banyak dilakukan di kalangan Dawan, menumbuhkan jaringan kekerabatan yang lebih luas dalam satu suku. Perbedaan kedua bentuk ini terletak pada proses dan mekanismenya masing-masing. Struktur perkawinan adat Dawan yang dikenal dengan nama tamam nasako atau tamam man toet bi fe mencerminkan keunikan budaya masyarakatnya. Proses perkawinan secara sistematis dibagi menjadi tiga bagian yang saling berhubungan: lamaran (perkenalan), hantaran (bagian inti), dan tahap akhir pergantian marga. Unsur-unsur tersebut tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai validasi budaya warisan Dawan, namun juga sebagai mekanisme memperkokoh ikatan sosial dan melestarikan adat istiadat leluhur. Perkawinan adat Dawan mempunyai makna yang beragam melalui simbol-simbol verbal dan nonverbal, meliputi aspek agama, sosiologis, ekonomi, politik, sejarah, dan hukum. Selain itu, mereka mewujudkan nilai-nilai inti seperti ketuhanan, kemanusiaan, persatuan, konsensus, dan keadilan. Secara keseluruhan, perkawinan adat dalam masyarakat Dawan berperan penting dalam menjaga struktur sosial, membina hubungan, dan melestarikan norma dan nilai budaya.
