Abstract

The quality of building construction is significantly influenced by the competence of the workforce involved. Competent labor plays a pivotal role in determining the success or failure of a construction project, as workers are directly responsible for implementing the planned design. This study aims to assess the competence of construction workers engaged in building construction, with a focus on blacksmith construction workers, carpenters, and concrete workers involved in the Hulondalo and Exhibition Center (HBEC) project in Gorontalo City. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the research examines workers performing column and beam structure work, which are critical components of the building’s structural integrity. Competence is analyzed based on three key aspects: knowledge, work abilities, and work attitudes. The findings reveal that the majority of construction workers in the HBEC project possess basic-level competencies, with 90% classified at Level 1 and only 10% at Level 2. Level 1 indicates workers with fundamental skills who require supervision and guidance, while Level 2 represents those capable of working with moderate independence and a higher degree of technical understanding. The results highlight the importance of targeted training and capacity-building initiatives to improve worker competence, thereby ensuring higher quality and efficiency in building construction. This study underscores the need for continuous skills development in the construction sector to meet the demands of increasingly complex building projects.

Abstract

In construction projects, there are four main aspects that must be considered: cost, time, quality, and occupational safety. One of the biggest challenges is the cost aspect, which often faces issues such as budget overruns, overtime work, and quality degradation. These issues can be categorized as unnecessary costs. One approach that can be used to reduce unnecessary costs is the application of the Value Engineering concept. The implementation of Value Engineering is carried out through field surveys, participatory observations, and secondary data analysis from project documents such as the Budget Plan (RAB), Detailed Engineering Design (DED), and Unit Price Analysis (AHSP). The analysis is conducted through several stages, including the Cost Model, Cost Breakdown, Pareto rule analysis, function analysis, creative stage, Value Engineering analysis, Life Cycle Cost analysis, and recommendation stage. The results show that the application of Value Engineering in architectural works can provide significant cost efficiency. The total savings reached IDR 69,552,162.86, or 10%. Specifically, for wall works, the applied alternative resulted in savings of 7.53% or IDR 62,784,374.25. For door and window frame works, the selected alternative generated savings of 1.09% or IDR 4,503,000.00. Meanwhile, for flooring works, the applied alternative was able to save 1.4% or IDR 2,264,788.61.

Abstract

Dams are very functional for every region in Indonesia because they can be used for various purposes such as irrigation, power generation and raw water supply. One of the important projects in Gorontalo is the construction of the Bulango Ulu Dam, which functions to regulate water flow, reduce the risk of flooding, provide energy, open up jobs, and encourage economic sectors such as tourism. This study aims to identify the dominant technical risks that occur in the implementation of work in the field and evaluate actions to overcome these risk factors. This research method is by distributing questionnaires to respondents who are the implementing contractors of the Bulango Ulu Dam project. The results of this study are that flooding is the most dominant risk factor that occurs in the implementation of the main dam work on the Bulango Ulu Dam project. As well as actions to overcome this, namely improving flood prediction and early warning by strengthening rain monitoring stations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of additional working hours (overtime) and additional workforce on project success in the construction of the BPK RI Apartment Building in Gorontalo City. The independent variables examined in this study are additional working hours (X1) and additional workforce (X2), while the dependent variable is project success (Y). Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression to examine the relationship and influence among variables. The sample consisted of 41 respondents who were workers and project executors involved in the construction of the BPK RI Apartment Building in Gorontalo City. Data were collected through questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability. The results of these tests indicated that all research instruments were valid and reliable, and therefore suitable for use in this study. The results of the analysis indicate that additional working hours and additional workforce simultaneously have a significant effect on project success. This is supported by the F-test results, which show a significance value of 0.037, which is less than 0.05. Partially, the t-test results demonstrate that additional working hours (X1) have a significant effect on project success, with a significance value of 0.023 (< 0.05). Similarly, additional workforce (X2) also has a significant effect on project success, with a significance value of 0.037 (< 0.05). The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.399 indicates that the independent variables collectively explain 39.9% of the variation in project success. The remaining 60.1% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study.

Abstract

 Abstrak. Pembangunan Proyek Strategis Nasional Bendungan Bulango Ulu di Gorontalo memiliki potensi risiko tinggi terhadap bencana alam seperti longsor dan gempa, sehingga Rencana Keselamatan Konstruksi (RKK) perlu dievaluasi secara komprehensif, mengingat implementasinya masih terkendala oleh kurangnya disiplin APD, minimnya simulasi darurat, serta gangguan cuaca ekstrem. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis kondisi RKK eksisting dan merumuskan strategi peningkatan mitigasi bencana menggunakan analisis SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats). Hasil perhitungan Matriks Grand Strategy menunjukkan selisih faktor internal (sumbu X) sebesar 1,20 (diperoleh dari total skor kekuatan 3.70 dikurangi total skor kelemahan 2.50)  dan eksternal (sumbu Y) sebesar 1.50 (diperoleh dari total skor Peluang 4.00 dikurangi total skor Ancaman 2.50). Dengan koordinat akhir (1.20 ; 1.50), proyek berada pada Kuadran I, yang mengindikasikan bahwa kekuatan internal proyek, seperti adanya SOP khusus bencana dan inspeksi keselamatan berkala, mampu mendukung pemanfaatan peluang eksternal secara optimal. Strategi prioritas yang direkomendasikan adalah Strategi SO (Strengths-Opportunities) atau strategi pertumbuhan, yang berfokus pada pengembangan sistem, peningkatan kompetensi SDM, dan pemanfaatan teknologi, guna meningkatkan efektivitas mitigasi bencana pada proyek bendungan. Kata kunci: RKK, K3, Mitigasi Bencana, SWOT
