Abstract

The entry of Arab culture into the city of Palembang occurred in 1659-1708. Palembang developed into a center for Islamic studies and literature in the Archipelago. It made many Ulama of Palembang appear and many Arab’s Ulama who spread religion and culture. Arab culture in Palembang still exists. This existence is indicated by the presence of Arab settlements in Al-Munawar Arab Village and Assegaf Arab Village in Palembang city. Arab culture in Palembang still exists today, marked by the presence of Arabs in Al-Munawar Arab Village and Assegaf Arab Village in Palembang city. Arab culture has undergone various changes and interacted with other cultures. This article discusses the interaction or relationship between Arabs and natives in Palembang and examines how these two cultures can form a culture. This article also discusses how the Arab community can adapt to the environment in Palembang. The researcher used the interview method as well as observation and literature review. The article's conclusion shows that Arab culture has existed in Palembang and is evidenced by the many branches from Arabia, including Al-Munawar village and Assegaf village. The settlements show that the Arab community participates in mingling and associating with the local community and showing the culture that is acculturated to one another between Arab culture and Palembang culture.
