Abstract

DMPA/3-month injectable contraceptives are widely used and effective in reducing birth rates. One of the side effects of using 3-month injectable contraceptives is potential weight gain. This study aims to identify the relationship between the duration of use of 3-month injectable contraceptives and weight gain among birth control acceptors. The data analysis method employed the chi-square test, with a sample derived using the Slovin formula from the total population of 108 injectable birth control acceptors, resulting in 52 respondents. The research was conducted at PMB Wipka Yuliana. The measurement tool used was a questionnaire. The findings of this study indicated that the duration of use of three-month injectable birth control for over two years was associated with an increase in weight, with a p-value of 0.001. These results demonstrate a significant relationship between the duration of three-month injectable contraceptive use and weight gain among contraceptive users. There is an association between the duration of three-month injectable contraceptive use and weight gain in birth control users. It is hoped that healthcare workers and recipients of the 3-month injectable contraceptive can find sources of information regarding the side effects associated with the use of DMPA.

Abstract

Hemoglobin (Hb) plays a crucial role in maintaining the stamina of mothers during childbirth, particularly in stage II, which requires strength for pushing. Anemia in pregnant women can prolong the labor process due to a lack of energy for pushing. This study aims to determine the relationship between Hb levels and parity with the duration of stage II labor. This cross-sectional study involved 42 respondents and was analyzed using the Spearman rank test. The results indicate a positive correlation between Hb levels and the duration of stage II labor (r = 0.416; p = 0.006), as well as a negative correlation between parity and the duration of stage II labor (r = -0.705; p = 0.000). These findings suggest that higher Hb levels tend to shorten the duration of stage II labor, while lower parity tends to prolong it.

Abstract

Congenital Hypothyroid Screening is a screening test performed on newborns with the goal to detect congenital hypothyroidism earlier. In May 2023, 10 newborns (23.2%) participated in CHS according to a research study conducted at Public Health Center I Kubutambahan. CHS implementation in Indonesia is profoundly low at 4.6%, and in Bali Province is 5.2%.To determine knowledge and perception of society about congenital hypothyroid screening in the area of Kubutambahan Public Health Center I.  This study employed descriptive qualitative design with cross sectional approach. There were 379 respondents selected for the sample of this study by using a combination of non-probability (purposive sampling) and probability (cluster sampling) methods. The data were collected by using questionnaire which was distributed traditionally. The data were analyzed by using univariate analysis.  From 379 respondents, 92.9% are female, with 90.5% aged between 19 and 44 years old, and the majority, which is 62.3%, were unemployed. There were 68.9% respondents had good knowledge about CHS and there were 100% had a good perception of CHS. Around 85.2% of participants had incorrect answer about time of CHS sampling, and there were 79.6% of participants experienced anxiety about CHS implementation. For the purpose to increase CHS coverage in Indonesia, it is expected that all stakeholders including health professionals will expand their knowledge about CHS.

Abstract

Nutrition provided through breast milk (ASI) has substantial implications for the quality of a child's development. Observations conducted in the Postpartum Ward of Klungkung Regional Hospital indicate that some breastfeeding mothers do not provide colostrum to their babies, this occurs quite frequently. Factors underlying the lack of colostrum include knowledge, education, and family support. This study is an analytical survey study with a cross-sectional design. Respondents were 80 postpartum mothers selected using a purposive sampling technique at Klungkung Regency Hospital during the period March-April 2025. The research instrument used a questionnaire. Univariate analysis focused on frequency distribution, while bivariate analysis used the Spearman Rank test. The results showed that the majority of respondents showed a sufficient level of knowledge (66 mothers (82.5%), a high school education background (66 mothers (82.5%), and family support was considered sufficient (50 mothers (62.5%). Statistical analysis using the Spearman Rank Test obtained a value of 0.001 (p <0.05). These results indicate a significant correlation between maternal knowledge, education, and family support levels and the practice of providing colostrum on the first day of birth in the postpartum ward at Klungkung District Hospital. Healthcare workers are expected to routinely provide education and counseling to breastfeeding mothers to improve colostrum provision on the first day of birth.
