Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disorder of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins caused by abnormalities in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. Diabetes Mellitus is known as a silent killer because it often goes unnoticed until complications arise. This study aimed to prove the significant influence of knowledge and attitudes of diabetes mellitus patients before and after being given an intervention in the form of health education through educational videos about stroke prevention. The method used is a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest with control group. The intervention group received education through video media, while the control group was given education with leaflet media. The results showed a significant effect of audio-visual media on knowledge with a p-value of 0.012 (p < 0.05). The average knowledge difference in the intervention group was 22.35, while in the control group it was 15.67. The effect on attitude was also significant with a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05). The average attitude difference in the intervention group was 24.84, while in the control group it was 15.88. The conclusion of this study is that health education through audio-visual media significantly influences the knowledge and attitudes of diabetes mellitus patients in stroke prevention.

Abstract

not subside quickly. This is usually due to a lack of knowledge about the initial handling of febrile seizures in children. This study aims to determine the effect of health education about febrile seizures on parents' knowledge in handling emergency situations in children. This research uses a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design, employing a Pre and Post Test Without Control Group Design. The study population consisted of parents with children who experienced febrile seizures, with a sample of 33 people selected through consecutive sampling. The study was conducted in the working area of Singkawang Utara 1 Health Center. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test. The statistical analysis results showed a significance value of 0.000 (p value < 0.05), indicating that health education has an effect on parents' knowledge in handling emergency situations of febrile seizures in children. Health education has been proven to increase parents' knowledge, thus improving the initial handling of emergency situations of febrile seizures in children.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health issue characterized by chronic malnutrition that affects children’s physical growth, cognitive abilities, and long-term productivity. Limited knowledge and skills among community health cadres in conducting early detection contribute to the persistence of stunting cases in Indonesia. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of an educational module in improving cadres’ knowledge regarding stunting detection in the working area of Puskesmas Singkawang Utara 1. A quasi-experimental design using a pretest–posttest with control group approach was employed. A total of 63 cadres were selected through total sampling and assigned to an intervention group receiving an online educational module and a control group receiving a printed module. Knowledge was assessed before and after the intervention using a structured questionnaire. Normality testing revealed non-normally distributed data; thus, the Wilcoxon test was applied. Results showed a significant increase in knowledge scores from 38.65 to 77.14 after the intervention (p = 0.000). These findings indicate that the educational module, particularly in online form, is effective in enhancing cadres’ understanding of stunting detection and can be integrated into community-based stunting prevention programs..

Abstract

Child marriage is a risk factor contributing to increased stunting prevalence, particularly among adolescent girls with limited knowledge of reproductive health. Adolescents are highly influenced by their environment; therefore, an effective health promotion strategy is crucial. Peer-based education using online learning modules offers interactive features and easier accessibility, making it a promising method to improve adolescent understanding. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of peer-assisted online educational modules in increasing adolescent girls’ knowledge about child marriage as part of stunting prevention efforts. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group was applied involving 44 adolescent girls selected through probability sampling. The intervention group received an online educational module, while the control group was given a printed module. Study results showed a significant increase in knowledge among the intervention group after receiving the online module, with a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05) based on the Wilcoxon test. These findings indicate that peer-based online educational modules effectively improve adolescents’ understanding of the risks associated with child marriage and the importance of stunting prevention.
