Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of catfish wastewater as a source of nutrients in the hydroponic wick system cultivation model on the growth of pak choy mustard plants, which include: plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, pest and disease attacks, and plant yields. The method used in this study is a quantitative method with a Non-Factorial Randomized Block Design. This method used 6 treatments, namely (P0) 800 ml of water, (P1) 800 ml of water + AB Mix nutrients (A 5 ml + B 5 ml), (P2) 600 ml of water + 200 ml of catfish wastewater, (P3) 400 ml of water + 400 ml of catfish wastewater, (P4) 200 ml of water + 600 ml of catfish wastewater, (P5) 800 ml of catfish wastewater and repeated 3 times. The results showed that the treatment of 800 ml of catfish wastewater (P5) increased plant height, number of leaves, leaf area and weight of pakcoy plants in hydroponic wick system compared to the treatment of 800 ml of water (P0). Meanwhile, the attack of whitefly pests on pakchoy plants was found to be higher in all treatments of catfish wastewater as a source of nutrients in hydroponic wick system compared to the treatment of 800 ml of water + AB Mix nutrients (P1).

Abstract

Enhancing maize plant growth can be achieved through the application of biofertilizers, inorganic fertilizers, and the use of appropriate cultivars. This study aimed to examine the effect of different dosage combinations of biofertilizers and inorganic fertilizers, as well as cultivar selection, on improving maize plant growth. The research was conducted from June to September 2024, in Sambirejo Village, Jogoroto Sub-district, Jombang Regency, at an altitude of 40 meters above sea level. The method used was a factorial randomized block design (RBD) with two factors: combinations of biofertilizer and inorganic fertilizer doses (P), and maize cultivars (K), with 3 repetitions. Observations included stem diameter, leaf area, and plant growth rate measured at 15, 30, 45, and 60 days after planting (DAP), as well as nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) uptake observed at 60 DAP. The results showed that the use of the ADV Jago cultivar, combined with 100% inorganic fertilizer and 10 ml of biofertilizer (P7), produced the most optimal leaf area at 60 DAP and plant growth rate from 45 to 60 DAP, while the use of the Hibrida P35 cultivar combined with 100% inorganic fertilizer and 10 ml of biofertilizer (P7) increased stem diameter at 15 DAP. The ADV Jago cultivar resulted in the most optimal leaf area at 30 DAP. Lower doses of inorganic fertilizer, 75% and 50%, combined with 10 ml of biofertilizer (P8 and P9) also resulted in stem diameter and leaf area that were not significantly different from the 100% inorganic fertilizer treatment.

Abstract

Training on making photosynthetic bacteria (Synechococcus sp.) as plant fertilizer aims to increase participants' knowledge and skills in utilizing photosynthetic microorganisms to support sustainable agriculture. Synechococcus sp., a type of cyanobacteria, has the ability to carry out photosynthesis and produce important nutrients such as nitrogen, which plays a role in increasing soil fertility. Through a service approach based on Participatory Action Research (PAR), this training involves active participation of participants in all stages of the process. This training covers various topics, starting from an introduction to the characteristics and benefits of Synechococcus sp. to isolation techniques, culture, and practical applications in agriculture. Participants are taught in depth how to process these bacteria and apply them to planting media with the aim of increasing productivity and plant health. In addition, participants were given an understanding of the importance of microorganisms in maintaining the balance of agricultural ecosystems. The training evaluation showed very positive results, with a significant increase in participants' understanding of the role of photosynthetic microorganisms in improving soil and plant quality. Participants' interest in applying this technique on their agricultural land was also very high, showing great potential for widespread application of this method. It is hoped that through this training, more environmentally friendly and sustainable agriculture can be created by utilizing biological resources, such as Synechococcus sp., to maintain soil health and support sustainable food production.

Abstract

Local food development needs to be optimized to realize food self-sufficiency. Mancilan Village has local food sources that have not been utilized properly, namely spinach and rambutan. There needs to be an effort to optimize these food sources through community empowerment activities. This community service activity aims to improve and develop the skills of the PKK Melati Cadre in Mancilan Village in utilizing the local food potential of rambutan and spinach as processed food products. The approach model applied in this community empowerment activity is a participatory approach as well as asset or resource-based community empowerment. The methods used in this activity include workshops, demonstrations, simulations, and FGDs attended by 30 participants. Food processing training activities in the form of spinach noodles and hair nuggets have succeeded in increasing the knowledge and skills of Mancilan Village PKK cadres. The ease of raw materials and the process of making products are supporting factors in product application. On the other hand, based on the hedonic test of spinach noodle and rambutan nugget products, the average shows a positive value in terms of taste, color, aroma, and texture of the product.

Abstract

Ngampel Village in Ngusikan Sub-district, Jombang Regency, struggles with managing agricultural waste, particularly rice husks generated from rice production. Often underutilized, this waste contributes to environmental degradation. This community service initiative seeks to educate residents on transforming rice husks into briquettes as a sustainable energy source while enhancing the economic potential of agricultural byproducts. The project adopts a systematic method, including semi-carbonization, blending with binders, molding, and drying, to produce quality briquettes. This approach reduces environmental pollution from improper waste disposal, lowers fire risks, and encourages innovative resource use. Outcomes reveal heightened community awareness of sustainable waste management and increased interest in briquette production as a viable, eco-friendly energy option. This initiative underscores the value of community-driven innovation in tackling environmental issues and unlocking economic opportunities through agricultural waste utilization.

Abstract

Mina padi merupakan salah satu teknologi budidaya tanaman padi yang petensial untuk dikembangkan karena sistem ini mengintegrasikan produksi tanaman padi sawah dengan produksi ikan secara bersamaan dalam satu siklus produksi. Salah satu wilayah yang mengembangkan sistem mina padi adalah masyarakat petani di Desa Kanigoro, Kecamatan Pagelaran, Kabupaten Malang, Jawa Timur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses budidaya mina padi serta analisis kelayakan usaha mina padi. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Desa Kanigoro, Kecamatan Pagelaran, Kabupaten Malang, Jawa Timur pada bulan November 2023 sampai dengan Februari 2024. Jenis data yang dikumpulkan berupa data primer yang diperoleh dari hasil observasi pada petani dan data sekunder diperoleh dari dinas terkait yang berada di Kabupaten Malang berkaitan dengan kegiatan penelitian. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif sedangkan analisis usaha mina padi menggunakan analisis kelayakan usaha. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa budidaya mina padi yang diterapkan di lahan persawahan terdiri dari beberapa tahap, yaitu pemilihan benih padi dan ikan, persemaian benih padi, persiapan lahan, penanaman padi, penebaran benih ikan, pemupukan, pengairan, pemeliharaan ikan, pengendalian hama dan penyakit serta pemanenan hasil. Nilai analisis kelayakan usaha budidaya mina padi R/C ratio sebesar 4,91 dan B/C ratio sebesar 3,91, nilai kedua parameter yang lebih besar dari 1 (satu) menunjukkan bahwa budidaya mina padi layak untuk dikembangkan lebih lanjut.

Abstract

Fitohormon merupakan salah satu factor yang mempengaruhi pertumbuhan tanaman, terdapat hormon sintetik dan hormon alami, missalnya seperti yang terdapa pada ekstrak taoge. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak taoge terhadap pertumbuhan stek batang tanaman jambu dersono pada parameter jumlah tunas, jumlah daun, jumlah akar, panjang akar, dan waktu awal kemunculan tunas. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Februari – April 2025 di kebun percobaan yang berlokasi di Dusun Mambang, Desa Kedungmentawar, Kecamatan Ngimbang, Kabupaten Lamongan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah metode kuantitaif dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Penelitian ini menggunakan 5 taraf perlakuan dan diulang sebanyak 9 kali. Dengan perlakuan tanpa ektrak tauge ( Z0) : 0%, (Z1) : 20%, (Z2) : 40%, (Z3): 60% dan (Z4) 80%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan yang nyata antara konsentrasi ekstrak taoge terhadap pertumbuhan stek batang jambu dersono

Abstract

The purpose of this service activity is to find out the development of the residents of the Bahrul Ulum Menara Asri Housing in managing household waste as a medium for an environmentally friendly urban farming system. This activity was carried out from August to September 2020 at the Bahrul Ulum Housing Complex, Menara Asri Jombang. This activity used discussion and practice methods. Data collection was carried out through questionnaire sheets to determined the behavior of residents in proper handling of waste and its used as an urban agricultural medium. The evaluation showed that the awareness and behavior of residents in the proper waste sorting and handling activities had increased with this activity. In addition, the participation of residents in processing household waste had also increased. On the other hand, the practice of processing waste into urban farming media increased independence in providing daily food sources, especially the provision of vegetables to meet daily food needed. With this activity, it is hoped that it will contribute to efforts to reduce waste that is wasted to the landfill and increased the independence of residents in managing waste as a medium for an urban farming system so that residents can be independent in provided daily sources of nutrition.

Abstract

PKK merupakan organisasi kemasyarakatan yang aktif dalam peningkatan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Salah satu yang menjadi perhatian para kader PKK adalah masalah pangan dan gizi masyarakat terutama pada usia anak-anak. Oleh karena itu bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan ibu-ibu PKK dalam mengolah produk sayuran menjadi makanan yang lebih menarik untuk dikonsumsi keluarga.. Kegiatan ini dilakukan pada Bulan November 2021. Sasaran kegiatan ini adalah kader PKK Desa Sentul Kecamatan Tembelang Kabupaten Jombang. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan metode problem solving yaitu kegiatan dilaksanakan berdasarkan identifikasi permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh mitra. Pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat terdiri atas beberapa tahapan antara lain survei awal dan koordinasi dengan mitra, perancangan materi pelatihan dan penyampaian materi pelatihan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan kegiatan pelatihan produk pangan fungsional berbasis bayam merah memberikan dampak antara lain (1) memberikan tambahan wawasan dan pengetahuan kader PKK Desa Sentul tentang pentingnya pangan sehat bagi masyarakat, serta (2) meningkatkan keterampilan kader PKK dalam pengolahan pangan fungsional berupa mie bayam merah.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools are a source of plastic waste in Jombang Regency. Efforts to reduce waste generation through reusing plastic waste must be supported by adequate skills from the Islamic boarding school community. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of students in managing plastic waste into pots as a medium for cultivating vegetables in narrow land. This activity was carried out in October 2020 at ma'had al Muhajirin 1 Pondok Pesantren Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Jombang, the partiparticipant was about 15 students. The method used socialization and practiced activities. The evaluation of the results of the training showed that 70% of the training participants had good skills when making plastic waste pots, while 30% of the training participants were in the category with fairly good skills. These results indicated that this community service activity could improve the skills of students in processing plastic waste onto pots that were useful for planting vegetables.
