Abstract

This paper proposes a modified pixel-based fast median filter (MP-FMF) for impulse noise environments. The key idea behind MP-FMF is the reduction in the processing time by using modified pixels. It consists of three steps, namely, error detection, threshold decision, and noise mitigation. The presence of noise is detected by using modified pixels that include a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) function. Subsequently, the threshold values are decided by estimating the noise density. For noise mitigation, corrupted pixels are corrected with the neighboring pixels based on the principle of the median filter. The MP-FMF has a fast processing time and provides image quality correction and introduces features when the noise density is high. In addition, we introduce a new evaluation metric and investigate the performance of the proposed algorithm in terms of the quality, features, and computation time.

Abstract

Index modulation conveys more data given to indices of status of communication transmission item such as antenna and subcarrier. In this proposed system, we gave the index to the conditions of impedance matching or not. In the transmitter, antenna chooses one impedance according to the mapping table as active impedance. The receiver detects impedance index comparing of impedance between received signal and receivers. The proposed system improves not only transmitted information data by using impedance index but also spectral efficiency. In the simulation, Spectral Efficiency (SE) and Bit Error Rate (BER) were analyzed and compared to conventional modulation scheme.

Abstract

This paper proposes an uplink non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system with device-to-device (D2D) communication, enabling NOMA users to communicate with other users/devices using D2D communication to improve the system capacity. In the NOMA-D2D system, two cellular users communicated with the BS using uplink NOMA, and two cellular users simultaneously communicated with the D2D users using downlink NOMA. Closed-form solutions for the ergodic sum capacity of the proposed system are derived analytically. The analytical results are validated via simulations and they are compared with the results obtained from conventional schemes. The comparison shows that, in scenarios where efficient interference cancellation can be achieved, the proposed NOMA system with the D2D model can achieve higher capacity gains than conventional benchmark schemes. When  dB, NOMA-D2D achieves capacity gains of 192.2% and 157.5% over the conventional OMA and the time-sharing-based NOMA, respectively.
