Abstract

Increasing domestic demand for mangoes in recent years has increased rapidly, not only in terms of quantity but also in terms of quality of mango, especially for modern markets. But only a small part of the mango which could entered the modern market. Understanding of farmers' access to markets is needed to increase farmers' capacity as an effort to improve farmers' welfare. The purpose of this research were to: 1) Analyze socioeconomic characteristics of mango farmers in Indramayu Regency; 2) Analyze the mango marketing channelin Indramayu District; 3) Analyze the factors that influence the decision of mango farmers in market selection in Indramayu District. This research is a quantitative research with 130 mango farmers who were taken by using multi stage random sampling. Data were analyzed descriptively as well as logistic regression analysis. The results showed that most of the farmers were in productive age, had completed primary school education, had <100 trees, never participated in the activity, did not join to farmers group and partnership in marketing. Most farmers market their crops to collecting traders. The level of education of farmers, frequency of extension activities, access to information about mango’s market, quality requirements, the percentage of mango of goodquality and the attachment of farmers to certain financing sources are the factors that significantly influence the farmer's decision in choosing the market. The role of farmer groups is needed to collect farmers in marketing their crops with profitable systems for farmers.

Abstract

Perkembangan pasar terstruktur sebagai alternatif pasar bagi petani hortikultura menimbulkan optimisme tinggi bagi para petani hortikultura untuk terus mengembangkan usahanya.. Tujuan Penelitian adalah mengetahui proses dan tahapan tahapan memulai wirausaha produk hortikultura dan bagaimana pengembangan usaha yang telah dilakukan, agar menjadi inspirasi bagi pelaku usaha hortikultura skala kecil lainnya. Desain penelitian adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik studi kasus. Rancangan Analisis Data menggunakan model bisnis canvas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelompok tani Katata merintis jalan dengan memfokuskan diri memenuhi permintaan pasar modern dan ekspor. Dalam perjalanannya, Katata berkolaborasi dengan Perguruan Tinggi dan Bank Indonesia, untuk mempermudah akses terhadap teknologi, informasi pasar dan aspek keuangan. Dengan kolaborasi tersebut, maka Katata dapat menjalankan bisnis dengan efektif, sehingga dapat memenuhi permintaan pasar secara optimal dan mendapatkan profit dari aktivitas bisnisnya tersebut. Model bisnis yang diterapkan oleh kelompok tani Katata tersebut diharapkan dapat menjadi inspirasi bagi kelompok – kelompok tani lainnya atau bahkan masyarakat yang ingin berbisnis di bidang pertanian.

Abstract

ABSTRAKTujuan penelitian adalah memberikan pemahaman kepada stakeholder koperasi agribisnis mengenai pentingnya penerapan kewirausahaan dalam manajemen dan pengembangan usaha koperasi. Lokasi Penelitian ditentukan secara purposive, yaitu di Koperasi Mitra Tani Parahyangan. Analisis yang digunakan adalah kualitatif, untuk mengetahui gambaran detail dan mendalam tentang penerapan kewirausahaan dalam koperasi Mitra Tani Parahyangan.Jiwa Kewirausahaan menjadi suatu hal yang harus dimiliki oleh pelaku bisnis pertanian (Agribisnis), Sifat dan watak seorang agripreneurship adalah memiliki kemauan keras, berani mengambil risiko, jeli dalam melihat peluang usaha yang memiliki prospek yang cerah, senantiasa memperkuat jaringan usaha, memiliki semangat untuk selalu meningkatkan kualitas produk bagi kepuasan konsumen, memiliki cara pandang positif terhadap suatu keadaan dan memiliki sifat kepemimpinan.Koperasi Mitra Tani Parahyangan memiliki Unit Usaha Otonom Hortikultura, Tanaman Pangan, Simpan Pinjam dan Sarana Produksi. Dalam aspek pelayanannya, koperasi Mitra Tani Parahyangan memberikan pelayanan dalam hal on farm, penyediaan sarana produksi (hulu), Pasca panen dan pemasaran (hilir) dan juga penunjang. ABSTRACTThe purpose of the study was to provide insight to stakeholders about the application of cooperative-preneurship in the cooperative management. Research location determined purposively. This study was conducted using a qualitative approach  with a  case study techniques, to find out the details and in-depth overview of the application of entrepreneurship within the cooperative Mitra Tani Parahyangan .Entrepreneurship becomes a thing to be possessed by agricultural business , The nature and character of a agripreneurship is risk-taking , keen in seeing a business opportunity that has a promising future , constantly strengthen business networks , have a passion for always improve product quality for customer satisfaction , have a positive outlook on the situation and has leadership qualities.Mitra Tani Parahyangan have Horticulture Business Unit, Plant Food , Savings, Loans and means of production . In the services aspect , Mitra Tani Parahyangan providing service in terms of on-farm , providing the means of production ( upstream ) , Post- harvest and marketing ( downstream ) and also supporting .

Abstract

 Indonesian society today does not show a great interest in the agricultural sector. Even though, there is one regency in West Java which have a highest population working in agricultural sector, that is Cianjur Regency. Agrofarm Cianjur is one of P4S (Pusat Pelatihan Pertanian dan Pedesaan Swadaya) in Cianjur Regency which do training cultivation and marketing of horticultural commodity, then there are farmers group which called Agro Segar. With the formation of Agrofarm Cianjur as a unity with different focus and function, it is important to look at the business model of Agrofarm Cianjur so it can be used as an inspiration for agricultural actors. This research uses qualitative research design with case study technique. The analytical tool used is value network mapping with Holo Mapping analysis and Business Model Canvas used to describe the applied business model. The description of business model is obtained through business design process with storytelling technique, visual thinking, and prototyping. Based on the results of research, business model of Agrofarm Cianjur is quite advanced and can be used as an inspiration for agricultural actors. Agrofarm Cianjur needs to add partners and resources, and update the administrative accounting which is still manual. Keywords: Canvas Business Model; Farmers Group; P4S; Value Network Mapping.

Abstract

Keterpaduan sistem agribisnis sangat penting peranannya dalam industri berbasis agribisnis. Salah satu bagian dari subsistem agribisnis secara luas adalah pengembangan sektor pariwisata yang memanfaatkan usaha pertanian sebagai objek wisata. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis potensi agrowisata di Desa Cibodas berbasis sumberdaya lokal. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Informan dalam penelitian ini adalah sejumlah tokoh masyarakat di Desa Cibodas dan masyarakat Desa Cibodas. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa Desa Cibodas memiliki sumberdaya lokal yang potensial untuk dikembangkan sebagai agrowisata. Potensi pertanian dan kondisi alam Desa Cibodas dapat dijadikan atraksi wisata yang ditawarkan kepada pengunjung. Keberadaan beberapa objek wisata yang ramai dikunjungi oleh wisatawan dapat menjadi faktor penunjang pengembangan agrowisata di Desa Cibodas. Masyarakat sebagai pelaku utama pengembangan agrowisata harus dilibatkan secara penuh dalam perencanaan dan pengelolaannya.

Abstract

Most young farmers in Cibodas Village, Lembang Sub-district are able to develop agriculture with modern patterns and keep up with technological developments. But, the farmer still running their agribusiness enterprises individually. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of young farmers as well as the correlation with group interest and to determine the level of interest of farmers towards farmers’ group. This research is a quantitative descriptive study using an aritmaticmean and rank spearman analysis tool, the selection of samples in this study is using a purposive sampling technique of 100 samples. The results of this study show that young farmers are dominated by male farmers aged 38-44 years, at most junior high school educated and have experience of farming no more than 10 years. Access to information obtained by farmers is easy to obtain and most of them have land no more than 2.88 hectares, 78 people from 100 farmers are not affiliated with farmer groups. The level of interest of farmers is in a low category. The correlation between the characteristics of farmers and interest towards farmers’ group has a positive correlation, with indicators of education, farming experience, access to information and land area.

Abstract

This paper aims to explore how social networks provide farmers with access to resources, understanding the extent to which farmers with agricultural and non-agricultural backgrounds build their business networks. The research methodology is qualitative. Data was collected between October 2020 – June 2021, through semi-structured interviews with 30 farmers in West Java. There are 15 farmers who have an agricultural background, and 15 of them are novice farmers who do not have an agricultural background. The results showed that strong and weak ties each contributed to novice farmers in accessing resources. Beginner farmers who are not from the agricultural environment struggle harder to build business networks, making greater sacrifices in accessing the resources they need. Farmers with non-agricultural backgrounds are able to access material resources which are usually obtained from strong social ties. With hard effort and sacrifice, they are able to get resources from weak social ties. Agriculture is a sector that is constantly undergoing rapid changes, so these two groups of farmers must be able to move quickly, across “borders” to access resources in innovative ways from various existing sources.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out how the relationship between entrepreneurial characteristics and the success of Horticulture Farmers in Cibodas Village, Lembang District, West Bandung Regency. This research uses quantitative design with descriptive survey method. The research sample was taken by probability sampling method. Data analysis was carried out descriptively statistically and using Rank Spearman correlation analysis tools. The results showed that the average sample of farmers was male, in productive age, had received a 9-year compulsory education program, and had a business scale of 417.34 Tumbak. Entrepreneurial characteristics possessed by farmers are included in the criteria of "Good" with a percentage of 77.05%, Farming success is included in the criteria of "Good" with a percentage of 77.2%, and the results of the study show there is a positive correlation on all characteristics.

Abstract

Entrepreneurship is an important issue in Indonesia because it is considered to be able to overcome various development problems, such as creating new jobs and supporting the realization of economic growth. The purpose of this study is to determine the factors that encourage farmers to start new business activities, both farming and non-agricultural businesses that can be a source of income for them. The study uses several approaches/perspectives to explore the factors that trigger young farmers to start new business activities, namely 1) rural sociology perspective in agricultural entrepreneurship, 2) opportunity perspective in agricultural entrepreneurship and 3) resource perspective in agricultural entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurial farmers who are always looking for new business ideas, see and capture new opportunities and are able to utilize the resources they have are indispensable for agricultural development in rural areas. Farmers who have entrepreneurial characteristics are actors who can be expected to develop the economy of rural communities. In essence, all types of farmers described in this study can contribute to the development of the agricultural sector, create new jobs, new economic activities, discover unique resources and maintain the existence of agriculture in Indonesia as an agricultural country.

Abstract

Entrepreneurship occurs in a space with heterogeneous actors, where there are complex relationships between these actors. This research focuses on understanding entrepreneurship and agricultural communities in the context of economic development. Entrepreneurship research is felt to have not paid enough attention to understanding the community as a group of actors who influence the entrepreneurial behavior of an entrepreneur). We believe that entrepreneurship is greatly influenced by the existence of a community consisting of various stakeholders (government, universities and the private sector). An understanding of the entrepreneurial phenomenon can be obtained by understanding individual interactions with existing opportunities and the environment in which the entrepreneur operates. The relationship between farmers as entrepreneurs and the community as a place where farmers cultivate is important. Social capital, values, norms and culture contained in the community can influence entrepreneurship, both positively and vice versa. Likewise, entrepreneurial activities contribute to the life of society as a whole. Community and entrepreneurship are two entities that influence each other, each of which cannot stand alone. The next challenge for us as entrepreneurship researchers is to expand the scope of research to understand entrepreneurship more comprehensively from various points of view.
