Abstract

The global condition of the Covid-19 pandemic brings a valuable message to the Indonesian people, especially the people of Banten. The rapid transmission in a short time drains the government's energy and thoughts, especially in the health sector to cope with the Covid-19 pandemic. Efforts to limit community activities, implementation of health protocols, and Covid-19 vaccination are the government's flagship programs for the community. On the other hand, the development of hoax news also worsens the condition of people's knowledge and attitudes in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. To support the implementation of the Covid-19 vaccination program, the Universitas Faletehan academic community is moving in synergy with the Serang District Health Office through collaboration with the Kramatwatu District and the Kramatwatu Health Center to carry out Health Education and administering the Covid-19 vaccine, one of which is in Kampung Gempol, Desa Pegadingan, Kramatwatu Serang, Banten with a target of 100 people, the target was 87 people, preceded by the provision of Health Education about the benefits of the Covid-19 vaccine in the hope that the public will gain knowledge and can influence other communities regarding the importance of the Covid-19 vaccine. Based on the indicators of knowledge measurement before and after Health Education was carried out, it was found that there was a difference in the average value before and after the achievement of changes in the maximum and minimum values, so it can be stated that the implementation of Health Education was very effective given to the community. So it is recommended to the Department of Health and related parties carry out this Health Education in a planned and scheduled manner for the wider community.

Abstract

Background: Optimal quality of life is the hope of all older people. In the life span of older people, they experience a period where they are faced with a difficult situation that results in stress or even a traumatic bad experience. Several supporting factors are needed for older people to achieve optimal quality of life. Aims: This study was aimed to determine the predictor factors of the quality of life of institutionalized older people. Methods: This study used a correlation analysis design and a cross-sectional approach. Samples in this study were 50 older people at the Banten Social Protection Center. Data was collected by using questionnaires consisting of WHO Quality of Life, Barthel Index, HAM-A, and social support. Results: This study found that there was a strong relationship between quality of life with stress levels (p <0.01), level of dependence (p <0.05), and social support (p <0.01). The result of further analysis using multiple regression found that social support (Beta = 0.345, p <0.05) was found to be a predictor of quality of life for institutionalized older people. Conclusion: Quality of life of older people can be achieved to be optimal by increasing the social support surrounding. Thus, this study suggests the Banten Social Protection Center can facilitate to seek social support from both external and internal.   Keywords: Quality of life, institutionalized older people, social protection center, Banten.

Abstract

Postpartum blues is a temporarily depression period which may happen during the first few days of puerperium. The condition, if not resolved, may cause mothers depression and disturb the growth and development of the newborns. This study aimed to identify the dominant factor affecting postpartum blues incidents in puerperium mothers. This study used correlational method with cross-sectional approach. The samples were 68 respondents who were selected by consecutive sampling technique. Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EDPS) was utilized to determine the postpartum incidents, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) to measure social supports, and Breaf COPE scale to measure coping. The data was analyzed by using multiple regression. The results showed that the mean of postpartum blues was 8.09 (SD 4.78). The related factors are age, income, delivery type, delivery preparedness, and social support. Age had the strongest correlation and significantly contribute to postpartum blues incidents (Beta 0.347, p<0.01). The efforts of increasing postpartum blues early detection, health education, and social support for mothers with postpartum blues were required.

Abstract

The mental health issue experienced by individuals with mental disorders (MD) is a serious concern that necessitates a significant amount of time for recovery. Hence, family support as a pillar in the healing process becomes exceptionally crucial. Stigma associated with mental disorders exists. Consequently, a study is imperative to uncover the role of families in developing the intervention programs for individuals with MD, serving as a foundational step in designing contextually appropriate strategic approaches. The aim of this study was to ascertain the optimal family support requirements for caring for individuals experiencing mental disorders in Banten Province. The research employed a quantitative descriptive approach with the sample size of 103 respondents. The research findings indicated that the majority of families (53.4%) provided effective support for individuals with MD. Within the realm of the provided sub-support, a significant portion of families offered emotional support (51.5%), instrumental support (52.4%), evaluative support (52.4%), and informational support (55.3%). These findings showed that the program was unoptimal. Innovations and efforts to improve family role and community participation are needed in mental health intervention programs through the four aspects of family support.
