Abstract

Hypertension is one of the most common diseases in Indonesia and is the third leading cause of death for all ages (7.4%). Hypertension is defined as blood pressure that exceeds 140/90 mmHg. Management of hypertension can be done with pharmacological, non-pharmacological, tertiary and complementary approaches. One of the complementary therapies used is cupping. Cupping is a cleansing method by removing blood and wind from the body through the surface of the skin by sucking. This study aims to determine the effect of cupping therapy on reducing blood pressure in patients with hypertension. The design of this study was a clinical trial with a one group pretest-posttest design. The number of samples was 30 respondents according to the inclusion criteria, namely hypertension sufferers by performing 1 intervention before and after cupping therapy. The results of statistical tests found that there was a change in blood pressure, namely a decrease with the difference in the mean values ??of systole (4.851) and diastole (4.427). The statistical test used is the Wilcoxon test on systole and diastole showing a value (p = 0.000) which means p value <0.05 so H1 is accepted which means that there is a significant effect of cupping therapy on reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients at the Health Cupping Clinic dr. Abdurrahman Medan. The researcher's suggestion for future researchers is to examine the effects of long-term cupping therapy.

Abstract

Anxiety is one of the most common mental health problems in the elderly. The provision of appropriate and accurate psychopharmacology as well as nursing therapy is not enough, but must be followed up with selected therapy modalities regularly and continuously until the normal functioning of stable normative behavior or adaptive behavior, one of which is group activity therapy. To determine the effect of group activity therapy on the level of anxiety in the elderly. The design of this study is a quasi-experimental design with a pre-post test group design with a total sample of 44 people. The independent variable is group activity therapy (TAK) and the dependent variable is anxiety. The instruments used are questionnaire sheets and observation sheets. The statistical test used the Wilcoxon test with a significance value of = 0.05. The anxiety level of the majority of the elderly before TAK therapy was severe anxiety as much as 40.91% and after TAK therapy the majority of the elderly with mild anxiety level as much as 47.73%. There was a difference in anxiety before and after giving group activity therapy with a P value of 0.000 (P <0.05). Group activity therapy has an effect on reducing anxiety levels in the elderly.

Abstract

One of the causes of increased blood pressure in hypertensive patients is stress. Stress is an unpleasant physical and psychological pressure, stress can stimulate the glands in the kidneys to release the hormone adrenaline and trigger the heart to beat faster and stronger, so that blood pressure increases. This study aims to determine the relationship between stress levels in the elderly and the incidence of hypertension in the elderly at the Elderly Health Center in Tiga Dolok Panribuan Health Center. This type of research is a type of quantitative research with descriptive correlation research methods. The sample in this study amounted to 42 respondents. The sampling technique used is total sampling. The research instruments were in the form of respondent demographic data, stress levels used the DASS (Depression Anxiety Stress Scale) questionnaire, and hypertension was measured using a sphygmomanometer, stethoscope and observation sheet. Data were analyzed using the sperman rho correlation test. The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between stress levels and the incidence of hypertension in the elderly at Tiga Dolok Panribuan Health Center (p = 0.000). The conclusion obtained is that the better the elderly are in controlling their stress, the lower the risk of hypertension in the elderly. For future researchers, it is necessary to make efforts to prevent stress so that it can reduce the prevalence of hypertension in the elderly.
