Abstract

The objective of this research is to design and develop a Geographic Information System (GIS) to systematically visualize and map locations of financing offices in Gorontalo City, focusing on the Integrated Licensing Service Office (KPPT). The study addresses the lack of clear geographic information regarding financing office locations, which hinders access to financial services. A descriptive method was used, with a System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) review to define system requirements. The result is a web-based application that provides interactive access to financing office locations via a map. System testing using white-box and black-box methods confirmed that the system is free from logical errors and meets functional requirements. The findings indicate that GIS enhances information accessibility for the Gorontalo community regarding financing offices. The study highlights the benefits of Information system developments and suggests further enhancements using shortest path algorithms to improve location search efficiency.

Abstract

Tourism is a strategic sector that plays an important role in improving the regional economy. Gorontalo Province has various potential natural, cultural, and marine tourism destinations to be developed. However, the availability of accurate spatial data regarding the location, accessibility, and distribution of tourist attractions is still very limited. This research aims to design a Geographic Information System (GIS) for Tourism Destinations in Gorontalo Province using ArcView GIS, which can spatially visualize geographic information. The method used is a descriptive approach with the utilization of ArcView GIS software in processing spatial data. The results of this study are in the form of an interactive digital map containing the distribution of tourist locations, detailed information on tourist attractions, and integration of attribute data. With this system, local governments and the community can access tourism information more effectively to support promotion and tourism development planning

Abstract

The culinary industry in Gorontalo City has grown rapidly along with tourism activities and urban expansion. However, spatial data regarding the distribution and accessibility of culinary locations remain limited. This study aims to design a desktop-based Geographic Information System (GIS) for mapping culinary locations using the Spherical Cosine method. This method accurately calculates distances between geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) on the Earth’s surface. Spatial data were obtained from administrative maps of Gorontalo City, and attribute data were collected through field surveys. The result is a GIS application that displays culinary spots—restaurants, cafes, and street food vendors—on an interactive digital map. The system calculates distances between locations and provides detailed facility information. This platform allows users to find nearby food places easily, while local governments can utilize it for planning culinary tourism and local economic development.
