Abstract

Roads are a vital transportation infrastructure that support all human activities. The increasing volume of vehicles each year has become one of the contributing factors to road damage in several regions of Indonesia. Infrastructure burdened by high and recurring traffic volumes will lead to a decline in road quality, both structurally and functionally. Observations were conducted on the road segment in Morella Village. The objective of this study is to determine an index value that can indicate the pavement condition and to identify the type of road treatment using the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method. The study found the minimum index value on the Morella Village road segment was 67 at STA 0+300, which requires periodic improvement treatment, and the maximum index value was 100 at STA 0+200, requiring routine maintenance. Data analysis showed that the damage level on the Morella Village road segment from STA 0+000 to STA 2+000 is categorized as very good, with an average PCI value of 90.65, based on calculations of each 100-meter sample unit.  Keywords: pavement condition index, treatment

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of parking on the roadway on the performance of one-way streets, using the case study of Cengkeh Street in Masohi City District. Parking on the roadway is one of the factors contributing to the decline in road performance, especially on road segments that connect to economic activities, such as shopping centers and markets. The issues raised include reduced road capacity, decreased vehicle speed, and increased saturation degree due to parking on the roadway. The methodology used in this study involves a quantitative approach, collecting primary data through direct surveys and analysis using the Indonesian Road Capacity Manual (MKJI) 1997. The results show that the highest average daily traffic occurs on Sundays with 539 vehicles per hour. Parking on the roadway significantly affects road performance. Traffic volume increases when parking appears on the road, while road capacity decreases from normal conditions. The road capacity with parking on the road is 1,253.26 passenger car units per hour and 2,610.96 passenger car units per hour without parking on the road. The degree of saturation also significantly increases, reaching 0.43 in conditions with parking, with road service level up to level B, approaching the maximum road capacity limit. Parking characteristics show that the highest parking volume occurs on Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM WIT, with a high accumulation of vehicles on both sides of the road. This study provides recommendations for rearranging the parking system, implementing parking bans in certain zones, and optimizing parking spaces off the road to improve traffic performance. Abstract

The development of reliable road infrastructure serves as a key pillar in supporting regional connectivity, logistics distribution, and economic growth. In Indonesia, connectivity improvement policies have become a priority in the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2020–2024 as an effort to accelerate equitable development, particularly in underdeveloped and archipelagic areas. This study aims to evaluate the pavement condition and determine the level of damage severity on the Amahusu–Latuhalat road segment in Ambon City using the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method based on ASTM D6433. In addition, this study seeks to identify the distribution of pavement condition categories and propose appropriate maintenance strategies based on the obtained PCI values. The results indicate that the average PCI value of the 20 observed segments is 77.1, which falls into the “Good” category. The distribution shows that 35% of segments are in “Very Good” condition, 40% in “Good,” 10% in “Fair,” and 15% in “Poor.” These findings indicate that the pavement is still functionally adequate, although localized deterioration has occurred in several segments. Therefore, periodic maintenance and targeted rehabilitation are required to maintain pavement performance.
