Abstract

Character Education is a problem that is quite often faced by teenagers, as is the case in Batu Raja Village, Pondok Kubang, Central Bengkulu Regency. Karang Taruna is a social/youth organization which is a forum and means to create a young generation with religious character and social spirit, therefore the programs implemented by Karang Taruna are expected to be able to shape good adolescent character in the religious and social fields. This study aims to: (1) Determine the role of Karang Taruna in shaping adolescent character in a religious and social perspective in Batu Raja Village, Pondok Kubang District, Central Bengkulu Regency (2) Determine the character of adolescents after participating in programs carried out by Karang Taruna in Batu Raja Village, Pondok Kubang District, Central Bengkulu Regency. The method used in this study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive analysis field type. This study was conducted in Batu Raja Village, but since the Covid-19 outbreak, activities have been carried out according to the situation and conditions that allow while still paying attention to health protocols. The main subjects and informants in this study were Karang Taruna and adolescents in Batu Raja Village. The data collection technique used technical triangulation observation and time triangulation. The data analysis technique used data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or verification. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the Karang Taruna programs in the context of character formation has been carried out as expected. Through these programs, there have been changes in adolescents such as the formation of adolescent attitudes and behavior both in the religious and social fields.
