This paper aims to provide a perspective of colonial history in aspects of inter-religious relations in Maluku through the momentum of the birth of Protestantism in Maluku and how it relates to Islam. First, awareness of sajarah needs to be transformed for the benefit of the shared learning space, so that its meaning can be understood based on the surrounding context. Second, the tension of the past is only a method or way of responding to the process of colonialism. Third, Colonialism has a positive impact on the formulation of common identity as the Moluccas.AbstrakTulisan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan perspekif sejarah kolonial dalam aspek hubungan antar agama di Maluku melalui momentum hari lahirnya Protestantisme di Maluku dan bagaimana relasinya dengan Islam. Pertama, Kesadaran sajarah perlu ditransformasikan bagi kepentingan ruang pembelajaran bersama, sehingga maknanya dapat dipahami berdasarkan konteks yang mengitarinya. Kedua, Ketegangan masa lalu hanyalah metode atau cara merespon proses kolonialisme. Ketiga, Kolonialisme memberikan dampak positif bagi perumusan identitas bersama sebagai orang Maluku.
