<![CDATA[Penggunaan umpan pada alat tangkap dalam operasi penangkapan ikan berfungsi sebagai pikatan atau stimulasi ikan dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan efektivitas penangkapan. Studi respons tingkah laku ikan khususnya pada fungsi organ penciuman memiliki peranan penting untuk mengetahui efektivitas umpan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah formulasi umpan buatan dengan komposisi yang berbeda dan menganalisis respons penciuman ikan kerapu macan (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus) terhadap umpan buatan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah eksperimen laboratorium. Formula umpan buatan menunjukan bahwa umpan B (komposisi 35% minyak ikan) memiliki efektivitas tertinggi. Perbedaan umpan buatan tidak memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap waktu arousal dan finding, tetapi berbeda nyata pada waktu ikan mencari lokasi umpan (searching). The use of bait in fishing operation attached to a fishing gear has function to attract or stimulate fish, so as to increase the fishing effectiveness. Response study on fish behavior especially for olfactory organ function represents the important roles in order to know the effectiveness of bait. The objectives of this study are to formulate the artificial bait in different composition, and to analysis olfaction response of grouper (Epinephelus fuscogutattus) to artificial baits. The laboratory experiment methods were used in this study. The artificial bait that showed a high effectiveness was the bait of B (composed of 35% fish oil). The effect of different bait indicated insignificantly different to the time of olfaction response for arousal and finding, but significantly different for searching response.]]>
