<![CDATA[Luka adalah hilang atau rusaknya sebagian jaringan tubuh. Luka yang tidak mendapatkan perawatan yang semestinya dapat berakibat fatal. Proses penyembuhan luka terdiri dari hemostasis, inflamasi, proliferasidanremodelling. Pengobatan alternatif dalam penyembuhan luka secara empiris dapat menggunakan daun dan batang zigzag (Pedilanthus tithymaloides (L.) Poit.). Tanaman ini mengandung sejumlah zat aktif seperti beta-sitosterol, flavonoid, fenol, 5-S-’methylthioadenosindan1,4-dihydroquinone dengan efek antioksidan yang berperan dalam proses penyembuhan luka. Selain itu, efek analgesiknya juga dapat mengurangi rasa sakit dari luka tersebut. Pedilanthus tithymaloides juga mampu menginhibisi beberapa jenis bakteri sebagai efek antimikrobial untuk mencegah terjadinya infeksi pada luka. Kata kunci: luka, proses penyembuhan luka, tanaman zigzag POTENTIALS OF ZIGZAG PLANTS AS WILD HEALERS ABSTRACT Injury is the loss or damage of some body tissues. Injuries that do not get proper treatment can be fatal. The wound healing process consist of hemostasis, inflamation, proliferation, and remodelling. An alternative medicine in empirically healing wounds can use zigzag leaves and stems (Pedilanthus tithymaloides (L.) Poit.). This plant contain some active subtances such as beta-sitosterol, flavonoids, phenol, 5-S-‘methylthioadenosin and 1,4-dihydroquinone that have an antioxidant effect for a faster wound healing. Besides, this plant has an nalgetic effect that reduce of pain from the wound.
