KONTAMINASI LOGAM BERAT PADA MAKANAN DAN DAMPAKNYA PADA KESEHATAN

Abstract

Food is the principle commodity of human being which has played a part inimproving of human’s health directly so that they are capable to do their daily activitieswell. For that reasons, the hygiene of food is very important in order to prevent thehealth’s problems.Ironically, there is much food circulated in the society which is unsecured to beconsumed lately. Especially it is because of the metal contamination such as lead(Pb), mercury (Hg), arsenic (As) and cadmium (Cd). If those metals come into thehuman’s body through food which is consumed by human, it can make the nervesystem troubles, brain damage, paralysis, growth resistance, kidney damage, bonefragility and DNA damage or cancer.Keywords: contamination, metal, health impactMakanan adalah kebutuhan pokok manusia yang secara langsung berperanmeningkatkan kesehatan sehingga mampu melakukan kegiatan sehari-hari secarabaik. Untuk itulah keamanan makanan menjadi sangat penting agar tidakmenimbulkan gangguan kesehatan.Tetapi ironisnya, belakangan ini banyak makanan yang beredar di masyarakat tidakterjamin lagi keamanannya. Khususnya karena terkontaminasi logam-logam beratseperti timbel (Pb), merkuri Hg), arsen (As) dan kadmium (Cd). Padahal bila logamlogamtersebut masuk ke dalam tubuh lewat makanan, selain akan menganggusystem saraf, kerusakan otak, kelumpuhan, pertumbuhan terhambat, kerusakanginjal, kerapuhan tulang dan kerusakan DNA atau kanker.Kata Kunci: kontaminasi, logam berat, dampak kesehatan.
