<![CDATA[ABSTRACTCashew (Anacardium occidentale L.) is one of the plant that used by native people asdiabetics medicin. This research was intended to find out the effectiveness of cashew stem’sbark extract upon the reduction of blood sugar levels on white male wistar which wereinducted with aloxane. 30 mices were made to being diabetic by aloxan 130 mg/KgBBintravenously. Then they were devide into 5 treatment groups, they were dose extract 0,085g/KgBB, dose 0,17 g/KgBB, dose 0,34 g/KgBB, as the comparison of Glibenklamid 0,63mg/KgBB (positive control) and CMC 0,5 % (negative control) and 5 mices for normalcontrol. The collected data were analyzed by Duncan test. analyzed Shows that there aresignificant difference (α <0.05) between dose of extract and the negative control but nothingsignificant difference with positive control. Based on this result, it can be concluded that theethanol extract of stem’s bark of Anacardium occidentale L. has effect upon the reduction ofblood sugar levels on white male wistar which are inducted with aloxane.Key words : cashew stem bark, blood glucose, Rattus norvegicusABSTRAKJambu mete (Anacardium occidentale L.) merupakan salah satu spesies tumbuhan yangdimanfaatkan masyarakat sebagai obat untuk penyakit kencing manis. Penelitian ini bertujuanuntuk mengetahui efektivitas ekstrak kulit batang jambu mete terhadap penurunan kadarglukosa darah pada tikus putih jantan galur wistar (Rattus norvegicus) yang diinduksialoksan. Sebanyak 30 ekor tikus dibuat diabetes dengan menggunakan aloksan 130 mg/kgBBsecara intravena. Kemudian dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok perlakuan, yaitu: ekstrak dosis 0,085g/KgBB, dosis0,17 g/KgBB, dosis 0,34 g/KgBB, sebagai pembanding Glibenklamid 0,63mg/KgBB (control positif) dan CMC 0,5% (control negatif) serta 5 ekor tikus untuk kontrolnormal. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan SPSS ver.20, uji one way ANOVA dandilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan. Hasil analisa statistik menunjukkan terdapat perbedaanpenurunan kadar gula darah yang signifikan antara kelompok perlakuan dosis ekstrak dengankontrol negatif, tetapi tidak memiliki perbedaan secara signifikan dengan control positif.Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan ekstrak etanol kulit batang Anacardiumoccidentale L. memiliki efek terhadap penurunan kadar gula darah tikus putih jantan galurwistar yang diinduksi aloksan.Kata kunci : kulit batang jambu mete, gula darah, Rattus norvegicus]]>
