UJI EFEKTIVITAS EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN TAPAK DARA (Catharantus roseus (L.) G.Don) TERHADAP PENURUNAN KADAR GULA DARAH TIKUS PUTIH JANTAN GALUR WISTAR (Rattus norvegicus L.) YANG DIINDUKSI SUKROSA

ABSTRACT Periwinkle is one of herbal plantation which is used as a traditional medicine. This research aims to test the effectiveness of ethanol extract of Periwinkle leaf in lowering blood glucose level of Strain Wistar White Male Mice. This test is a Laboratory Experimental Research using 15 Strain Wistar White Male Mice (Rattus norvegicus L.) as the experimental animal are divided into five treatment groups namely negative control group, positive control group and treatment groups with dose 0,04 g/kg body weight, 0,08 g/kg body weight, and 0,16 g/kg body weight of ethanol extract Periwinkle leaf. The data obtained from Fasting Blood glucose level check, 30 minutes post sucrose induction and on 15, 30, 60 and 120 minutes post gave treatment. The data are analyze by using  one way ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) test and to be continued with LSD test (Least Significantly Difference) aim to discover the obvious difference between the treatments. The result of this research show that ethanol extract Periwinkle leaf with dose of 0,04 g/kg body weight, 0,08 g/kg body weight, and 0,16 g/kg body weight are effective in lowering blood glucose level of Strain Wistar White Male Mice.   Key words : Periwinkle Leaf, Blood Glucose Level, Sucrose, Rattus norvegicus L.     ABSTRAK Tanaman Tapak Dara merupakan salah satu tanaman obat yang digunakan sebagai obat tradisional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efektivitas ekstrak etanol daun Tapak Dara terhadap penurunan kadar gula darah tikus putih jantan galur wistar.  Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental laboratorium dengan menggunakan tikus putih jantan galur wistar sebagai hewan uji (Rattus norvegicus L.) berjumlah 15 ekor yang terbagi dalam 5 kelompok yaitu kelompok kontrol negatif, kelompok kontrol positif dan kelompok perlakuan dengan dosis ekstrak etanol daun Tapak Dara masing-masing 0,04 g/kgBB, 0,08 g/kgBB, dan 0,16 g/kgBB.  Data diperoleh dari pemeriksaan kadar gula darah puasa, 30 menit setelah diinduksi dengan sukrosa, dan pada menit ke 15, 30, 60, dan 120 setelah pemberian ekstrak etanol daun Tapak Dara. Data dianalis secara statistika dengan ANAVA satu jalur dan dilanjutkan dengan uji LSD untuk melihat beda nyata antar perlakuan.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun Tapak Dara dengan dosis 0,04 g/kgBB, 0,08 g/kgBB, dan 0,16 g/kgBB memiliki efek menurunkan kadar gula darah pada tikus putih jantan galur wistar.   Kata kunci : Daun Tapak Dara, Kadar gula darah, Sukrosa, Rattus norvegicus L.
