<![CDATA[Indonesia is one of the countries with the largest number of smokers in the world Smokers in the Indonesian community are not only adults, but have spread to teenagers. WHO data in 2008 stated that 63% of men were smokers and 4.5% of women were smokers. Based on a preliminary study conducted at the Alasa Talumuzoi 2 Vocational School of North Nias District of 15 male students there were 9 people who smoked and 6 people who did not smoke, among 9 people there were 4 people without the knowledge of their parents and 5 people who were knowledgeable old age. This study aims to determine the factors that influence smoking behavior in students. This type of research uses an analytical method with a Cross Sectional approach. The sample consisted of 44 respondents whose sampling in this study used a proportional stratified sampling technique from a total population of 79 male students. Data collection was carried out with questionnaires.The results obtained from the distribution of questionnaires that of 44 respondents found smoking students as much as 54.5%, with insufficient knowledge about cigarettes as much as 59.1%. Psychosocial negative as much as 47.7% of students' attitudes negative towards smoking behavior as much as 61.4% . After doing statistical tests using chi-square test with a 95% confidence level, the p-value value is smaller than α-value (0.05). Thus it can be stated that there is an influence between knowledge, psychology and attitudes towards smoking behavior in male students.]]>
