Synthesis and characterization of cordierite-based rice husk silica has been conducted by MgO 0, 10, and 15wt%. Preparation of cordierite used MgO, Al2O3, and silica rice husk. Silica was extracted by alkalis method using 1,5 NaOH solution and 10% HNO3. The samples were sintered at temperature of 1250°C. The characteristics of thermal were analysed by DTA/TGA and thermal conductivity were analysed by ASTM E1530, while physics characterization were anlysed by density and porosity. DTA/TGA result showed that the crystallization process of cordierite through spinel bonding. The thermal conductivity values obtained were between 2,9089-3,1647 (W/m.K). Based on the result, it can be concluded that the addition of MgO on cordierite increased thermal conductivity and porosity as well as reduced density.
