<![CDATA[Students have difficulty understanding a material because of a lack of confidence. This study aims to determine the increase in motivation and self-confidence of students after learning to use the PBL model in thematic learning in class I SD Negeri 4 Waeapo. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) using qualitative and quantitative analysis methods. The data collection design used was observation, interview, and questionnaire. The results showed that the students' mastery of learning was quite good from the results of the formulative tests in the two cycles carried out starting from the first cycle to the second. Student learning outcomes achieve mastery of 43.3% of the total number of students in cycle 1 and increase to 83.3% of the number of students in cycle 2. The application of thematic learning models of environmental themes with this contextual approach can improve student learning activities. This can be seen from the results of observations that reached an average score in the first cycle = 1.6 and changes in the average score in the second cycle = 2.5. From cycle I and cycle II it was clear that there was an increase in the average score of 0.9.
