The level of listening skills of interactive dialogue of class IX.3 students of SMPN 3 Pekanbaru is still low. The low skill is due to the fact that the instructional technique factor used by teacher is still less proper. Teachers still apply a monotonous learning pattern in the form of lectures and commands so that there is no variation in learning. To overcome the low listening skills of interactive dialogue, researcher provides solutions by using role playing models. Role-play model is a method that involves interactions between two or more students about a topic or situation. The objective of this study is to determine whether the application of role-playing learning model can improve student learning outcomes of class IX.3 SMPN 3 Pekanbaru academic year 2016/2017 or not. The study was conducted for 2 months, from September to November 2016. The study was conducted in 2 cycles, with 6 meetings and two daily tests. In order to succeed this classroom action research, the researcher designed steps of action planning, action implementation, observation and reflection. The result of the study shows that the implementation of role play learning model can improve the learning outcomes of students class IX.3 SMPN 3 Pekanbaru, academic year 2016/2017. It can be seen from the improvement of student learning outcomes before and after applying the model of learning play Roles in cycle I and cycle II.
