Abstract

ABSTRAK STUDI REAKTOR TEMPERATUR TINGGI PBMR. Perkembangan teknologi dan prospek reaktor temperatur tinggi PBMR perlu dikaji di Indonesia. Konsep PBMR (Pebble Bed Modular Reactor) dikembangkan berdasarkan tekonologi reaktor temperatur tinggi oleh ESKOM Afrika Selatan. Kekhususan tekonologi ini adalah penggunaan pendingin gas helium dan moderator grafit. Pada pebble bedt bahan bakar U-235 diperkaya antara 8-10%, terdiri dari lapisan partikel dengan dua lapisan karbon dan satu lapisan silikon karbida. Desain PBMR didasarkan pada prinsip-prinsip operasi dan perbaikan yang sangat sederhana, keselamatan tinggi, waktu pembangunan relatif pendek, biaya investasi kecil, biaya pembangkitan sangat kompetitif, unjuk kerja tinggi (faktor ketersediaan tinggi), dan mudah disesuaikan dengan infrastruktur yang ada. Kata Kunci: PBMR, pebble bed, silikon karbida   ABSTRACT ASSESMENT OF HIGH TEMPEARTURE REACTOR PBMR. This paper describes development of technology and prospect of high temperature reactor PBMR in Indonesia. PBMR (Pebble Bed Modular Reactor) concept builts on the high temperature gas cooled reactor technology developed by ESKOM South Africa. Typical of this technology is the use of a helium coolant and a graphite moderator. In the pebble bed, the fuel uranium dioxide enriched in U-235 to 8-10 percent, consists of particles coated with two layers of carbon and one of silicon carbide. The design of PBMR is based on enhancement through implementation of inherent safety and pasive system, short construction time, small investment cost, competitive generating cost, high performance (high availabilty) and easily suited to the infrastructures.
