Abstract

AbstractThe prevalence of inadequate consumption of vegetables and fruits among pre-school in Indonesia was more than 90%. Vegetables and fruit support pre-school children to grow and reduce risk for degenerative diseases. To date, it remains unclear the factors associated with low consumption of vegetables and fruit among pre-school children in Indonesia especially in urban area. Therefore, the aim of our study was to investigate factors associated with consumption of vegetables and fruit among pre-school children. This study was design with cross-sectional approach among 37 parents of pre-school children in Widuri Jaya Kindergarten, West Jakarta. We interviewed socio-demography using questionnaire, consumption of vegetables and fruit using recall 24 hours and child feeding behavior using Comprehensive Child Feeding Questionnaire.  The results of this study indicate that there was a significant relationship between feeding behavior in children and the number of family members with the level of consumption of vegetables and fruits among pre-school children (p-value <0.05). Meanwhile, there was no relationship between gender, maternal education, income per capita with the consumption of vegetables and fruits among pre-school children (p-value> 0.05). In conclusion, parents need to pay attention to the feeding behavior of pre-school children to meet their daily needs for vegetables and fruit. In addition, parents should consider the number of family members by fulfilling the availability of vegetables and fruits because these factors may influence the adequacy of vegetable and fruit consumption among pre-school children. Keywords : Pre-school children, vegetables and fruits consumption, child feeding behavior, family sample size  AbstrakPrevalensi kurangnya konsumsi sayur dan buah pada anak pra sekolah di Indonesia mencapai > 90%. Sayur dan buah mendukung pertumbuhan dan mengurangi risiko penyakit degeneratif pada anak pra sekolah. Sejauh ini masih belum diketahui secara pasti faktor apa saja yang memicu rendahnya konsumsi sayur dan buah di Indonesia terutama di perkotaan. Oleh karena itu, tujuan penelitian kami yaitu menginvestigasi faktor apa saja yang mempengaruhi tingkat kecukupan konsumsi sayur dan buah pada anak pra sekolah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode cross-sectional pada orang tua 37 anak pra sekolah usia 4-5 tahun di TK Widuri Jaya, Jakarta Barat. Peneliti melakukan wawancara social demografi menggunakan kuesioner, asupan sayur dan buah menggunakan recall 24 jam dan perilaku pemberian makan pada anak menggunakan Comprehensive Child Feeding Questionairre.  Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan signifikan antara perilaku pemberian makan pada anak dan jumlah anggota keluarga dengan tingkat konsumsi sayur dan buah (p-value < 0.05). Sementara itu, tidak ada hubungan antara jenis kelamin, pendidikan ibu, pendapatan perkapita dengan perilaku konsumsi sayur dan buah pada anak pra-sekolah (p-value > 0.05). Kesimpulannya, orang tua perlu memperhatikan perilaku pemberian makan pada anak pra sekolah untuk memenuhi kebutuhan sayur dan buah setiap hari. Selain itu, orang tua juga perlu memperhatikan jumlah anggota keluarga dengan memenuhi ketersediaan sayur dan buah karena mampu mempengaruhi kecukupan konsumsi sayur dan buah pada anak pra sekolah. Kata kunci: Anak pra sekolah, konsumsi sayur dan buah, perilaku pemberian makan pada anak, jumlah anggota keluarga
