Abstract

The existence of mangroves on the coastal have an important role as a habitat for fish fauna, physical protection to shoreline, spawning, nursery and feeding ground. Limited size of land and resources on the mainland as well as the increasing number of people, many construction activities shifted from the mainland towards the coastal and oceans aims to increase the economy's income and welfare through the development of aquaculture, fish catching tools, ports, industrial processing and tourism. Management of mangrove areas or sectors to maximize production without taking into account the limitations of the carrying capacity and environmental capacity and the limited ability of assimilation, it will lead to environmental degradation and declining natural resource it self.The areas Pangpang Bay is one of the central coast (center) sea fishing activity in the District's Banyuwangi. The areas Pangpang Bay is adjacent to the Bali Strait in the east and Indonesia Ocean in the south..Teluk Pangpang potentially surrounded by coastal mangrove which is geographically located between 8º27'052 '' - 8º32'098 '' LS and 114º20'988 '' - 114º21'747 '' BT ( Banyuwangi regency, 2014) .Therefore it is necessary to identify and density of the mangrove ecosystem in question maintained that resources sustainability.
