This scientific work is created to determine whether ontologically the existence of bitcoin can be classified as crime. Bitcoin is a virtual money that was originally created to simplify the process of financial transactions through the virtual world. There are many factors influencing the rapid growing use of Bitcoin, as its exchange rates tend to always increase significantly, so Bitcoin becomes a lucrative investment tool. The rise of the use of Bitcoin as a means of financial transactions on the internet also trigger the emergence of negative reactions such as the emergence of cyber crimes, because the existence of Bitcoin simplify cyber criminals to conduct illegal activities, such as transactions of human organs, drug trafficking, the practicing of money laundering. If the phenomenon of Bitcoin is analyzed by the explanation of cyber crime based on postmodern criminology, ontologically, the use of Bitcoin as a means of illegal transactions is a crime.Keywords: Bitcoin; Cyber crime; Money-laundring; Postmodernism Criminology; Space Transition Theory.
