Rice in the agricultural sector is still a strategic commodity, as it is a key ingredient to meet the food needs of the community in Indonesia. Therefore the need of rice must be fulfilled so as not to cause a problem. Food shortages will lead to socio-economic impact of the broader, even going to have an impact on politics. In relation to the above is needed to increase rice production to meet the needs of the community. One solution to increase production to support government programs towards self-sufficiency in rice could be through the introduction of new rice varieties. VUB rice is an essential element for the success of rice farming.
