Abstract

The benchmark of quality learning is the acquisition of student learning outcomes. The higher the average learning outcomes obtained by students, it can be said that the higher the learning success rate. Teachers are directly responsible for how to improve student learning outcomes. The teacher must be really creative in designing the learning process so that what the teacher says can be understood by the students. The problems studied in the classroom action research are whether through the use of the Total Physical Response (TPR) method can improve learning outcomes in English subjects in grade 8th students of SMP Negeri 6 Bondowoso in the 2018/2019 academic year. Based on the results of research and discussion, it can be concluded that the achievement of student learning outcomes in English subjects at SMP Negeri 6 Bondowoso can be increased by using the Total Physical Response (TPR) method. This can be seen from the data: 1). Completeness of Learning, from 29 total students of grade 8th SMP Negeri 6 Bondowoso, the percentage of learning completeness in the pre-cycle was 44.83%, in the first cycle it increased to 68.97%, while in the second cycle it became 82.76% 2). Absorption of students, from 29 total students of grade 8th SMP Negeri 6 Bondowoso, the average percentage of student absorption in the pre-cycle was 62.76%, in cycle I it increased to 67.59%, while in cycle II it increased to 77.59%.
