Abstract

All religions claim to be a religion that teaches universal compassion for all human beings, even claiming to love all creation. However, there have been many riots or human tragedies that have occurred in the name of religion. As funny as it sounds, competing religions claim to teach love, but their love in the blink of an eye disappears into tremendous hatred. Claims such as the teaching of love, compassion, tolerance, brotherhood do not seem to be firmly planted in some religious people's hearts. When scrutinized, riots against a background of religious sentiment could occur because of religious group leaders' provocation. Because, until whenever, religious leadership will forever be paternalistic or fatherly. Therefore, religious communities will always submit and obey their leaders. If the group leader gives examples of struggles with compassion or struggles with ahimsa or struggles without violence, such as Gandhi's leadership's attitude, not only his followers submitting and obeying, even Gandhi's enemies with tanks and cannons can be defeated. At this time, to uphold world Peace, all religions must compete to show tangible forms of the virtues taught in their books. Do not give the impression that religion is only normatively good on paper but bad in reality. All religious followers should not be able to separate between religious teachings and those who embrace them. Various parties will judge religion through its adherents' behavior; therefore, religion must be functional in guiding humankind. If the religion followed is deemed not functional to educate bad people to be good, but on the contrary, religion is felt to be dysfunctional, so one's should abandon those religions. Such suggestions are found in the Chanakya Niti Sastra, which states: "tyajed dharmaṁ dayā-hῑnam" (Religions that do not teach love should leave it).The teachings of Tattvam Asi give rise to universal awareness for anyone who studies and immerses them. Through this universal consciousness, he can see all creation as an embodiment of itself. This universal consciousness causes hatred for anything and anyone to disappear.                     This article is the result of a qualitative study of text and context. Text data is taken from the Vedic literature and its derivatives, especially in the Upanishad texts. In contrast, data in the context of the field is taken from news of riots, bomb tragedies broadcast on TV stations, the Internet, or written on Facebook, newspapers, etc. The theory used is the Structural-Functional theory because religious teachings are functional and are conveyed structurally by the authorities to the public. The analysis used is a qualitative analysis aimed at Vedic Hermeneutic, implemented in the Vedanta or Upanisad. The results obtained are that Tattvam Asi's teachings can transform ordinary consciousness into universal consciousness, which is the basis of world peace and peace.
