Basically all prospective biology teacher students must have the skills in managing and using the laboratory. In every activity in the laboratory, all involving students' activities, creativity, and intellectual, so that in achieving the success of learning in the laboratory, biology teacher students must master the compulsory course of the introduction of the lab. This study aims to analyze the basic skills of biology teacher candidates in introductory laboratory courses in the management, use and maintenance of laboratory equipment. This research is a descriptive explorative research conducted in the biology education program of UNIROW Tuban academic year 2017/2018 on students of class of 2016 semester 2 which amounted to 14 people. Data on the basic skills of these biology teacher candidates are derived from performance appraisals on some of the skills tested with several assessments that include tooling skills, observing skills, communication skills, concluding skills and laboratory maintenance skills. The results showed that the average of all aspects of skills assessed showed good results that is 86. Meanwhile, when viewed from the average of each skill aspect, the scores obtained were 86 for skills using tools, 87 for observing skills, 86 for communication skills, 83 for concluding skills and 88 for laboratory maintenance skills.
