Abstract

ABSTRACT Background The increasing number of patients with HIV/AIDS in the world and Indonesia requires to be more aware of the spread and transmission of this virus. People infected with HIV-AIDS are not easy, amid the stigma and discrimination that exist in the midst of society, the threat of death that always comes to them must also be able to maintain their lives and be able to improve their quality of life. This is so that people with HIV/AIDS can live healthy lives like normal humans and maintain a high life expectancy. Purpose This study aims to determine the effect of self-management and self-concept on the quality of life of HIV AIDS patients, so that patients can survive. Method Literature search involving the Google scholar database, Science Direct and Pubmed articles published between 2011-2021 with the keywords quality of life for HIV AIDS patients, self management and self-concept. Results 7 articles reveal the influence of self-management and self-concept on the quality of life of HIV AIDS patients, so that patients have a long life expectancy and there is no stigma from society. A positive self-concept will make HIV AIDS patients live like others. The better HIV AIDS patients do self-management, the quality of life will increase. Conclusion A positive quality of life will motivate individuals to actualize themselves and not give in to the limitations of a positive self-concept which is very important in helping to overcome various life problems and provide a better quality of lif
