Psoriasis merupakan penyakit kulit inflamatorik kronis dengan dasar genetik kuat yang manifestasinya tidak terbatas pada lesi kulit, namun juga pada berbagai organ, termasuk kuku, sendi, dan lidah (geographic tongue). Insiden di Asia cenderung rendah (0,4%), tidak ada perbedaan pada pria maupun wanita. Variasi klinis terbanyak adalah psoriasis vulgaris (85-90%), artritis psoriatika jarang (10%). Bentuk klinis bervariasi mulai dari yang bisa remisi spontan hingga yang berlangsung seumur hidup dengan kecenderungan memburuk dan persisten. Patofisiologi meliputi proses kompleks autoimunitas, serta abnormalitas mikrovaskular dan keratinosit. Tatalaksana bertujuan untuk mensupresi gejala walaupun tidak menyembuhkan sempurna.Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease with typical genetic history, manifested not only on skin but also in various organs, including nail, joint, and tongue. Its incidence is rather low in Asia (0,4%) with no significant difference between men and women. This disease comprises from various clinical types, from the most common type, psoriasis vulgaris (85-90%) to the rare one, psoriatic arthritis (10%). Its clinical outcome is also variable, from spontaneously remitting to life-long disease with tendency to worsen with time and become persistent. Its pathophysiology is a mixture of complex autoimmunity processes and abnormalities of microvascular and keratinocytes. The management goal is disease suppression.
