STUDI AWAL FABRIKASI PANDU GELOMBANG SYMETRIC DENGAN TIN OXIDA SEBAGAI DIRECTIONAL COUPLER

Abstract

Abstrak Pengembangan sistem dan teknologi komunikasi optik, terutama di Optical Switching (OS) memiliki peran penting dalam teknologi informasi. Makalah ini melaporjan pembuatan symmetric waveguidse optik berbasis tin oxida. Symmetric waveguides sebagai directional coupler telah difabrikasi dengan memasukkan material tin oxida pada substrat akrilik yang ditutup dengan methyl methacrylate (MMA). Directional coupler hasil fabrikasi dikarakterisasi menggunakan laser He-Ne (λ=632,8 nm). Karakterisasi dilakukan dengan mengambil foto penampang melintang directional coupler ketika diberi input sinar laser. Distribusi intensitas masing-masing port dari directional coupler diolah dengan menggunakan software ImageJ. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan besarnya persantase intensitas output directional coupler dengan sudut kelengkungan 36o adalah 25,2% pada port 1 dan pada port 2 sebesar 59,6%. Dengan losses sebesar 10,4% ditunjukkan pada symmetric waveguides dengan ukuran cm2 dengan jarak waveguide 0,04 cm. Kata Kunci: Pandu gelombang, directional coupler, dan SnO2. Abstract The development of optical communication systems and technologies, especially in Optical Switching (OS) has an important role in information technology. This paper reports the manufacture of optical symmetric waveguide based on tin oxide. Symmetric waveguides as directional couplers have been fabricated by incorporating tin oxide material on an acrylic substrate and covered with methyl methacrylate (MMA). The directional coupler of the fabrication results is characterized using a He-Ne laser (λ=632,8 nm). Characterization is done by taking a cross-section of a directional coupler photograph when given a laser beam input. The distribution of the intensity of each port from directional coupler is processed using ImageJ software. The result showed that the intensity of directional coupler output intensity with curve angle 36o is 25.2% at port 1 and at port 2 is 59,6%. With losses of 10.4% indicated on symmetric waveguides with size cm2 with a waveguide distance of 0.04 cm. Keywords: waveguide, directional coupler, and SnO2
